Obituary of Eunice Johannson

In Loving Memory Of Eunice Johannson

Eunice was born in The Wadena Union Hospital September 3, 1950. Her parents were Arni Sigurdur Bjorn Johannson and Lillian Elvera (Hendrickson) Johannson. Eunice was a very small baby and spent the first few months of her life in a dresser drawer used as a crib. Eunice had one younger sister, Rita.

The Johannson family lived on a farm 8 miles north and 3 miles west of Margo. Eunice started her education at the one room country school house, McKinley School, about a half mile from their farm house. When that school closed in 1960, the students in the area rode the bus to Margo School, in the town of Margo. In 1966 there were not enough teachers in Margo so the grade 11 and twelve classes were sent to Wadena Composite School, of which Eunice graduated from grade 12 there.  Eunice stayed with Mrs. Guloien in Wadena and worked part time at The Wadena News  office and took music lessons.

Eunice had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the piano. She started taking music lessons from Ethel Keele in Wadena at an early age and continued until she graduated high school. Eunice even played the organ for some church services at the Margo Lutheran Church. Her Mom & Dad as well as the Pelican family, took turns driving Eunice and Terri (Pelican) Bottcher to Ethel Keele’s for music lessons in Wadena. In her younger years the 4-H club was in Margo and Eunice decided to take the Home Nursing Course. Eunice also took confirmation classes and was confirmed at the Margo Lutheran Church. After graduating high school, she moved to Ontario for a short time, then on to Medicine Hat, Alberta. While there, she started a career with Alberta Government Telephone (AGT). Shortly after, she was promoted, but this promotion meant moving to Edmonton, Alberta, and so she did.Eunice wanted to further her education so while she worked for AGT she went on to obtain her PHD in Psychology, working and taking classes. When she obtained her credentials, she was enormously proud of the difference she made in peoples lives, especially veterans. She continued to do virtual sessions and testing with clients until her passing. Eunice had a special love for pets, especially dogs, she worked hard to have a therapy dog, of which assisted with many clients and their healing.

Eunice is predeceased by her: Father Arni (1989) and Mother Lillian (2014); Nephew Baby George (1976); Brother-in-law George (2024); Cousin Coreen (2014); Cousin Ivan (1988), as well as numerous Uncles, Aunts & Dear Friends.

Eunice is survived by her: sister Rita; Nephews Milton (wife Jen) and Jason (wife Michelle); Great Niece Mackenzie (husband Michael), Great Great Nephew William, and Great Nephew Noah (fiancé Brooke); Great Nieces Colby, Hallee and Jordyn, and Great Nephew Blake; Aunts Margaret (Don Ottman), Kay Johannson, and Mae Hendrickson, as well as numerous cousins from Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. Plus, a host of close friends.

We miss you and know you are in Heaven with all your loved ones. Rest in Peace!
