In Loving Memory Of Elsie Moldowan
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Elsie" Moldowan on March 12th, 2025 at the age of 95. Predeceased by her parents (Vincent & Anna Gyorfi), siblings (Martha, Susan, Martin, Agatha, Bill, Frank, Agatha Bertha, Annie, William, Vince, Louie, James and Anne), many family relatives, her husband Mike and grandson Wade, Elsie leaves to mourn two sons, Raymond (Linda) Moldowan of Raymore & Brian Moldowan of Indian Head. She also leaves behind her three Grandchildren Michael (Flavie), Michelle (Perrin) and Bliss Moldowan along with five Great Grandchildren Joshua, Sierra & Ethan Moldowan and Kade & Quinn Ruckaber. She is also survived by her one sister, Gizella Wideman of Raymore. Elsie was born on June 10th, 1929 to Vincent and Anna Gyorfi. As one of fifteen siblings, she lived with her family on a farm in the Hollis District till 1947 when she married Mike Moldowan (who was recently discharged from the Army) and moved to Roblin, Manitoba where they both worked as farm hands. Mike & Elsie returned to Saskatchewan two years later to again work on a farm in the Pense area. Another move led them to help on another farm by Markinch. Mike & Elsie finally purchased and settled on the family homestead with their two young sons in the Schiller District north of Punnichy in 1957. Elsie loved the farm life from milking cows, gathering eggs to harvesting the grain. She always had a huge garden, loved cooking and canning and knew exactly which cookbook contained the BEST recipe. She liked crocheting blankets and playing cards in the winter while cutting grass, tending to the many flowerbeds filled with different varieties of lilies and admiring her fish pond that landscaped the farm in the summer. Elsie and Mike took time to travel to many places to enjoy square dancing where many friends and memories were made. Many times, Elsie could also be found at the local Bingo Palace. As the years passed, raising and enjoying her grandchildren at the farm was something she adored. A family meal (with all the trimmings) together for the holidays was always important to her followed by a good visit after the dishes were done. Elsie independently remained on the family farm even after Mike’s passing in 2007. In 2011 she moved into Punnichy and then into the Raymore Lodge in 2014. Due to the loss of her sight and failing health, Elsie made her last move into the Silver Heights Special Care Home in Raymore in November of 2020 where she remained until her passing.
