It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Amy Roxane Reynolds at the age of 56. After a courageous battle with cancer, Amy passed away on March 19th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Amy will be lovingly remembered by Richard, her husband of over 26 years and their daughters, Taylor and Kayla. Also left to mourn are Amy’s mother Hilda Rathgeber, sister Cheryl Stecyk (Evan Mang), brother Kevin (Shari) Rathgeber, mother-in-law Ella Reynolds, in-laws Calvert (Audrey) Reynolds, Dale (Anne) Reynolds, and Delores (Brian) Syrota alongside many nieces and nephews. Amy was predeceased by her father Albert Rathgeber and father-in-law Frank Reynolds.
Amy was born on July 28, 1968, in Melville, Saskatchewan. Throughout her childhood, she was actively involved in her community, participating in 4-H Beef and Sewing, as well as excelling in track and field, softball, volleyball, curling, and figure skating. Her upbringing on the family farm in Goodeve instilled the unwavering work ethic and values that shaped the person she became.
Amy graduated from the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology in Moose Jaw in 1989 with a Diploma in Accountancy. During her time in school, she curled on the Varsity team where she met Richard and many of her close friends that remain to this day. In 1992, she went on to complete her Certified Management Accounting designation at the young age of 23, receiving a medal award.
Throughout her distinguished career with the Federal Government, Amy served as a CPA in both Winnipeg and Regina, where her expertise and leadership touched many departments. She valued her employees like family, always leading with kindness and integrity. Across her career, Amy’s leadership was defined by the meaningful connections she built with her team who cherished her as a colleague and a friend. She completed 35 years of service with the Government of Canada in August 2024.
Amy loved her daughters, Taylor and Kayla, more than words could express. She was incredibly proud of the women they had become, and whenever she spoke about them, her face would light up. Amy was their unwavering support, attending every sporting event and dance performance, whether in their backyard or across the world. Through her encouragement, both daughters pursued their education at UBC, where they flourished. This success is a testament to the strength, hard work, and resilience Amy instilled in them.
Amy cherished time with family and friends, whether hosting dinner parties and backyard gatherings or attending concerts and live sporting events. She could often be found speed-walking the Linden Woods loop or tending to her beloved garden. Amy was always up to try something new, never backing down from an adventure (unless heights or motion sickness-inducing activities were involved). She cherished summers at the cabin at Fishing Lake, where she enjoyed sunsets, peaceful evening boat rides, leisurely rounds of golf, quiet fishing trips, refreshing swims, and tranquil kayaking adventures. She relished endless conversations around the bonfire or savoured serene moments, immersed in the pages of a good book.
Despite her diagnosis, Amy faced life with extraordinary strength and resilience, continuing to explore the world over the past six years. Her journeys took her to destinations such as Mexico, New York, Hawaii, Ireland, Germany, and Scotland, among others, reflecting her unwavering spirit.
Amy was truly a jack of all trades. Her care and intelligence were always on full display whether she was modifying her daughters’ thrift finds, wiring a 3-way switch, canning the annual harvest, reupholstering furniture, creating the perfect outdoor green space, or making the most delicious perogies and cabbage rolls that would bring a crowd back for seconds. Even in her final years, she remained deeply committed to helping others, generously volunteering multiple hours a week with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. She also devoted her time to other volunteer organizations including Winnipeg Harvest, the Christmas Cheer Board, and her daughters' athletic teams as they were growing up.
Amy will leave a lasting legacy as a beloved wife, devoted mother and dedicated friend. Her smile and laughter would light up a room, and her sense of humour, heartfelt hugs, and captivating green eyes will always be remembered. Amy is now at peace. It should be said that cancer did not beat her, Amy beat cancer through the amazing life she chose to lead and the exceptional wife, mother, and friend she was while living with her diagnosis. She fought with dignity and strength.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at the Victoria Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba for their support over the past 6 years.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or CIBC Run for the Cure “Reynolds Run” team in the fall.
