Obituary of Annie Kolybaba

In Loving Memory Of Annie Kolybaba

Annie Woitas was born on September 16, 1921, on the family farm near Model Farm to parents Rosalia (Bryksa) and Steve Woitas.

She was the oldest of sixteen children and as she got older, she not only helped her parents on the farm with chores, but she also helped to care for her younger brothers and sisters. She went to Coleraine School near West Bend, SK. Anne was an avid ball player as a young woman and made many lifelong friends on the ball diamond. On October 24, 1940, Anne married Eli Kolybaba at St. Onufrey Church, south of Foam Lake, SK.

While raising their family and farming together, Anne also kept a large garden and for a time cared for her in laws, when her children were small. She loved baking and cooking, and their home was always open for friends and family to stop by for a visit.

Her family was very important to her, and as they grew, and grandchildren came, Anne and Eli ensured that traditions were kept, such as gathering for Easter or a Christmas Eve meal together, every January 6th. Her faith in God was shown in every act of service, and that faith has been passed down to her family.

Anne was a soft-spoken woman, but that didn’t mean we didn’t know how she felt about all of us. Until her very last day, Baba would whisper “I love you” and sealed it with a hug. She was the quintessential Baba for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, a steady force who was always curious about what everyone was up to, and she truly cared about the answers given.

God took Anne to her heavenly home on June 11, 2025. She was 103 years old. Anne leaves to mourn her passing, her: siblings - Olga, Teresa, Katie, Mike, and Lillian; her children - daughter-in-law Emily Kolybaba (Walter’s wife) of Pilot Butte, SK, and their children: Trenton Kolybaba of Regina, SK, Brice (Lori) Kolybaba of Emerald Park, SK and their children Mitchell Kolybaba and Mackenzie Kolybaba; Virginia (Wayne) Maximuck of Sherwood Park, AB, and Kristine (Michael) Spilchuk of Ituna, SK and their children - son Colin (Heidi) Spilchuk and their children Karina (Dan) McCoshen, Brendan Spilchuk, and Daniel Spilchuk, and son - Sheldon (Sheila) Spilchuk and their children Jake Spilchuk, Maquire Spilchuk and her son Atticus, and Quaid Spilchuk, and son - Shaun Spilchuk and his children Donovan Spilchuk , Kendra Spilchuk and her daughter Navy, and Damon Spilchuk and Kane Spilchuk, and daughter - Cora Spilchuk and her sons Camden Spilchuk and Carson Spilchuk, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cherished friends and neighbours.

Anne was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Eli in 2014, her siblings Stella, Panko, Alex, Bill, Sidney, Pauline, Mary, Walter, Fred and Sophie, and her son Walter in 2025.
