In Loving Memory Of Eugene Willen

Eugene Gerhart Willen was born April 28, 1937 to Joseph and Elizabeth Willen. Eugene spent his childhood on the farm St. James district, east of Lake Lenore, SK. He attended Leavenworth School in the country until grade 8. He worked on the family farm grain farming and raising registered Hereford cattle with his father Joe Sr and brother Joe Jr.

Eugene and Carol (Forster) were married October 10, 1964 in Lake Lenore, SK. Lionel was born in July, 1965, Todd followed in December, 1966, Karlene in April, 1969 and Laurina in July, 1970. After their family was complete, they packed up and moved to Foam Lake, SK where they bought a hotel/bar with Olga and Verle Stuckel. They later bought a clothing store in 1976 and the farm in 1977. In 1986, they built a house on the farm. This was followed by purchasing Ituna Motor Inn in 1987 where they met a whole new family of friends.

Eugene belonged to the Lions Club, the Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus. Eugene and Carol have many great memories of travelling with friends to places like Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Nashville to watch their favorite country musicians. Eugene never missed a Blue Jays or curling game.

Eugene and Carol were proudly blessed with 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild with another on the way. Eugene passed in Yorkton, SK on June 12th, 2025.

Eugene will be missed by his: children - Lionel (Debbie Koropatnicki) Willen, Todd (Leann) Willen, Karlene (Roy) Balkwill, and Laurina (Roger Marciniuk) Willen; grandchildren - Troy Balkwill, Logan Balkwill, Landon (Danielle) Balkwill, Chris (Stephanie) Willen, Tori (Jesse) Sturgess, Dylan Bateman, Dustin (Josie Schell) Marciniuk and Dalton Marciniuk; one great- grandchild Scarlett Balkwill; sisters - Hilde Schumacher, Irma Brinkman, Elizabeth (William) Hricz, and Wilma Schumacher as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Eugene is predeceased by his: wife Carol Willen; parents - Joseph and Elizabeth Willen; sister Olga Stuckel and brother Joseph Willen Jr; brothers-in-law - Verle Stuckel, Jerome Schumacher, Melford Schumacher and Henry Brinkman and sister-in-law Hilde Willen.
