Obituary of Harry Bzdel
In Loving Memory Of Harry Bzdel
Hnatko, who he liked to be called ...was known as Harry, or to a majority of the community was known as ‘Royal Rock Harry’. Harry was born on July 17, 1933 and sadly passed away peacefully on June 29th, with family by his side.
Harry grew up in the Royal Rock district and attended Royal Rock school until grade 8, he then set out to conquer the world. Harry didn’t travel far as he loved the farm . He decided he would set his roots on the family farm, where he stayed and raised chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs and cattle. Harry also looked after his brother Walter, until his care became more than Harry could provide.
Harry loved being on the land, picking berries and mushrooms...just being outdoors was his passion. He also had a love for the game of horseshoes. One of his fondest memories was winning the provincial horseshoe championship in Humbolt in 2004.
Harry retired from farming and moved to Wynyard . Although retired, town life wasn’t for him. He found himself returning to the country as often as possible to help Merv and Darrell move farm equipment and vehicles until he was unable to drive any longer. Even after he gave up his license, they would pick him up for the odd move.
Harry had a passion for reading - he always knew what was going on in the world. Many times you would see Harry parked along the street or in front of the Co-op, reading the newspaper. He loved socializing, so when he was unable to make the drive to the farm he would hit coffee row for a friendly chat.
Harry was a proud Ukrainian - he loved his culture and heritage. He always wanted to talk with someone in Ukrainian, and if you didn’t speak Ukrainian, he would want to teach you. Christmas and Easter were his favourite holidays to celebrate with family, food, and song.
Harry, although a life long bachelor, has touched many peoples hearts and lives, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Harry is survived by his: brother Gordon and sister Jean.
