In Loving Memory Of Olive Beattie
Olive Beattie passed away peacefully at the Preeceville Health Centre, Preeceville, Saskatchewan, Canada on Thursday, August 28, 2025, atthe age of 89.
Olive was born in Birmingham, England on December 31, 1935, to Frank and Violet Smalley. She was one of five children, with threebrothers and one sister. Olive received her education in England before moving to Canada in 1967. That same year, she married AllisterBeattie on April 8.
Together, they raised two children: Ian, born in 1971, and Moira, born in 1973. Olive worked as a librarian at the Foam Lake Library for 23 years. She also spent time managing the concession at the local hockey rink, contributing to her community in meaningful ways.
Olive had a love for knitting and created many cherished items, from clothing to blankets. When the bowling alley opened, she became a devoted bowler, playing five days a week. Her dedication to the sport led her to become president of the bowling alley, a position she proudlyheld for many years. Olive enjoyed coffee with friends, reading books in the evening, and spending time with her family—especially her six grandsons and eventually, her great-grandchildren. She also loved baking for her grandkids, who especially enjoyed her chocolate chipcookies and her famous scuffles.
Olive was predeceased by her beloved husband Allister, her son Ian, her parents Frank and Violet Smalley, and her brother and sister-in-law,Colin and Dorothy Smalley.
Olive is lovingly remembered by her: daughter Moira (Dennis) Littlewood; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren - Cody - Hunter,Darren & Lucas; Travis (Bailey) - Piper, Oliver, Jackson & Addison; Zachery (Madison) - Zoey & Millie; Connor - Kian & Irina; Logan (Olivia), and Alexander.
Olive is also survived by her: brothers - Brian (Sue) Smalley and Andrew (Nicola) Smalley; sister Ann (Dave) Salt; as well as numerous niecesand nephews in England. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and dedication to her family and community. Olive will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
We wish to thank the doctors and staff at Yorkton Hospital and Preeceville Health Centre for the kindness and care given to Olive while she was there. And a special thank you to the Foam Lake Homecare Staff for their kindness and care for Olive for the past few years.
