Obituary of Ivor Evans

Celebrating The Life Of Ivor Evans

David “Ivor” Evans was born on February 14, 1955, at the Kelvington Hospital in Kelvington, Saskatchewan. Ivor was the third child of David Arthur Evans and Peggy Elaine (Robinson), and grew up on the family farm east of Kelvington with his four siblings: Gloria, Jeannette, Roger, and Glen.

The Evans family owned and operated the Town Dairy, J.T.Evans. While helping with the family dairy business Ivor attended the Kelvington schools. During his youth, he was a member of Cadets, enjoyed playing school sports, and worked at The MacLeod’s store before beginning his lifelong love of farming.

Over the years, Ivor farmed and spent time working in the mines of northern Manitoba, but no matter where life took him, Kelvington was always home.

Ivor loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Round Lake was his favourite spot, and he spent many happy hours there, often entering fishing derbies.

Known for his independence, Ivor rarely asked for help. He faced the challenges of diabetes and, later, Parkinson’s disease with quiet strength. Determined to remain in his own home, he managed with minimal support until his health required more care. Ivor then moved to the Porcupine Plain Nursing Home, where he quickly made friends and appreciated the community there. When the opportunity came to transfer to Kelvington, it was a hard decision to leave Porcupine Plain, but his heart called him home. At the Kelvington Nursing Home, Ivor embraced his new surroundings. He took pride in tending to the flowerbeds and raised gardens, and he was delighted to receive a Telemiracle-funded wheelchair, which gave him renewed independence and the ability to zip around on his own.

Ivor had a sharp memory and a passion for family history. He was often the go-to person for information, and he took pride in keeping those memories alive. Though his body slowed, his mind remained sharp, and he faced his challenges with resilience and humour.

Ivor passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, with his sister Gloria and brother Glen at his side. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Ivor is survived by his: siblings Gloria (Garth) Elliott and Glen (Theresa) Evans; nieces and nephews Dinalle Elliott (Carman Davies), David (Jenn) Osberg, Jodie (Graham) Scutchings, Trina Osberg (Tom Ilnisky), Sarah (Tyrell) Sunderland, Ariel (Regan) Nabseth, Mackenzie Evans (Lance Petracek), and Cassidy (Patrick) Robinson; as well as great-nieces and nephews Dryden Davies, Avia Davies, Dawson Davies, David “Evan” Osberg, Kierin Osberg, Kyllar Osberg, Mardi Scutchings, Luke Scutchings (Kyla Salter), Darien Osberg (Teisha Linklater), Lauryn Osberg-Ilnisky, Trace Osberg-Ilnisky, John Sunderland, Stella Sunderland, Evan Sunderland, Nash Nabseth, Livvy Nabseth, Nyla Robinson, and Callie Robinson as well as great-great niece Rebecca Osberg.

He was predeceased by his parents, David and Peggy Evans; siblings Roger Evans, Jeannette Osberg, brother in law Ozzie Osberg and great-nephew Adam Sunderland.

May he rest in peace.
