Celebrating The Life Of Andrew 'Andy' Godhe

Andrew “Andy” Claire Laverne Godhe was born on May 25, 1942 at Wadena, SK to Ragnar and Eva (Smale) Godhe. Ragnar and Eva raised four sons - Melvin Smale, Ivan Godhe, Ray Godhe and Andy Godhe, on the family farm, after homesteading to the area from Sweden. Andy married Doreen Wickstrom on November 6, 1959.  Andy and Doreen farmed in the Rosebud district, between Kylemore and Wadena, SK. They had five children - Orlynne, Perry, Evan, Cathy and Darren.

Andy attended  the Sunderland Country School in the Rosebud district.  After he completed his education he worked as a carpenter’s helper, and house movers assistant.  Andy was very handy and could fix anything, and everything --- welding, carpentry and farm related needs.

Andy was a man who loved the farm, farming and anything that involved being at the farm.  Andy and Doreen worked very hard on the farm, together they had a variety of livestock - cattle, pigs, chickens. They milked cows, butchered their own animals and sold cream and eggs. Andy never really retired from farming, but as his sons, Perry and Darren joined him in the farming operation, he took on a less “hands on approach”.  He remained interested in day-to-day happenings and in what farming changes were occurring in the area.  Andy had a special place in his heart for all animals, always a dog by his side and a cat in the house.

Andy treasured the times he spent visiting with his family and friends.  He was very proud of his children and his grandchildren.  Andy encouraged them, guided them and always looked forward to their visits.

Andy loved the farm life, he raised his children on the farm and appreciated the neighbourly friendships that he made over the years.  He never wanted to move from the farm, living there until he was 77 years old.  When his health deteriorated, Andy moved to Weneeda Park Lodge, in Wadena. Andy was admitted to long term care in December 2021 to Pleasant View Care Home, where he received great care until his unexpected passing on October 30, 2025.

Andy was predeceased by his: parents Ragnar and Eva; wife Doreen; son Evan at 28 years old; his infant grandson Dainin Godhe; parents-in-law Floyd and Merle Wickstrom;  siblings as well as many other extended family and friends.

Andy’s family left to mourn his passing:

Daughter - Cathy (Ed) Gould

grandchildren – Megan (Scott) Watson, Dylan (Katrina) Hunstad, and

Levi Magnusson

Son - Darren (Andrea) Godhe

grandchildren – Reein Godhe, Zarin Godhe and Atlin Godhe

as well as 10 great grandchildren.
