Celebrating The Life Of Lloyd Lillebo
Lloyd Vernon Lillebo was born on February 27, 1938 on the home quarter, to Leonard and Myrtle Lillebo, in the Kelvington SK, district. In 1944 Lloyd became a big brother when his brother Les joined their family. Lloyd attended Scofield Country School and the Rosscommon Country School completing grade 8, when he joined the workforce, learning the ropes of farming with his dad.
On July 1, 1956 Lloyd met Joan Petersen, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, at a Rosebud Community Picnic. That same year, a few months later, Lloyd moved to Winnipeg and started working for Firestone – a tire company. Lloyd and Joan dated and eventually on November 21st, 1959 they married in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Lloyd and Joan have two sons; Wayne born in 1960 and Rick born in 1962.
In 1975, as a family, they moved back to Kelvington district, where they lived and farmed on the family farm until January of 2025.
Lloyd farmed with his dad and later on with his son, Wayne and part-time with his son Rick. Lloyd really enjoyed farm life and all the neighbours that came with it. While farming, in 1976 until 1979, Lloyd worked for Bob Ake in the winters. As Lloyd’s health deteriorated, and his mobility declined, he required support for daily living. He spend a few months in Kelvington Hospital, Preeceville Care Home, and finally in October 2025, he returned to Kelvington, and lived at Kelvindell Lodge until his passing on December 24, 2025. Lloyd settled into the Lodge very well, his care was excellent and he was happy to see people he knew. Although his mobility was inhibited, his mind was sharp and he enjoyed visiting, and catching up with neighbours right up until his passing.
Lloyd is survived by his: wife, Joan of 66 years; sons Wayne (Judy) and Rick (Faye); five grandchildren – Janelle (Steven) Mysko, Lacey Lillebo (Daine Franklin), Mark Moran, Lorne Lillebo, Christina Lillebo (Joe Moldowan) and nine great- grandchildren; brother Les Lillebo and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Myrtle and his sister-in-law Lynn Lillebo.
