Obituary of George Lamb

Celebrating The Life Of George Lamb

George Lamb passed away peacefully at Golden Acres, Wynyard, SK on December 26, 2025 at the age of 93 years.

George was born in Regina, SK on July 23, 1932. He attended school there and graduated from Balfour Technical School. In 1952, George moved to Wynyard, SK. After four years with H.K. Halldorson as an Income Tax Consultant, he spent 10 years as service manager with Stern Motors, later Grummett Motors.

In 1966, George was hired by Pope and Tansley Hardware as a bookkeeper and controller of the sporting goods department for Marshall Wells. In 1988, Tansley and Lamb Hardware became an official Home Hardware franchise dealer. In 1993, Merv Hunter and George became partners under the new name Lamb & Hunter Home Hardware. George retired in June 2004, but continued as a bookkeeper.

George had dedicated many hours to sports in Wynyard. He coached High School Football, Monarch Senior Hockey, Ladies’ Softball, Minor Hockey and Minor Ball. George was a member of the Wynyard Golf Club Executive and was in charge of running the tournaments. He was instrumental in re-opening the curling rink and revitalizing the sports grounds. George also supported the SK Roughriders, having season tickets for many years. George was honoured at Taylor Field for his involvement with High School Football with a plaque presented by Linus Westberg, a good friend.

In 2005, George was presented with the SK Centennial medal by Lynda Haverstock (Lieutenant Governor).

George was a member of the Lion’s Club, nominated Lion of the Year and became President. He had been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce Retail Section and was named Citizen of the Year in 1977. George was elected to the Wynyard Town Council on October 22, 2003 and served for three terms (9 years).

George is survived by his: loving wife of 64 years Joanne Lamb;  four children - two sons: Randall (Adelle) Lamb of Foam Lake, SK and Timothy (Melissa) Lamb of Victoria, BC and two daughters: Sharon (Jason) Bartoshewski of Wynyard, SK and Deborah Stefanick (Greg Gudjonson) of Wynyard, SK; nine grandchildren:  Devon Lamb (Jen Fortier), Justin Bartoshewski (Briana) and Julie Bartoshewski (Tayven), Brodie (Keaira) Lamb and Cloey Lamb (Braden Krzak), Tori (Monte) Penner, Tucker Stefanick and Asher Stefanick, Reilly Lamb and great-grandson Beau Penner; sisters-in-law - Becky Lamb, Belle Lamb; brothers-in-law - Amil (Delores) Minken and Neil Minken as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who were very special to George.

George was predeceased by his: parents - Vera and George Lamb, two brothers -  Cliff and Bob Lamb; two sisters and their husbands - Marie (Leo) Mogensen and Flo (Peter) Makowichuk and one niece Cynthia Lamb; sisters-in-law - Eleanor (Bruce) MacGillivray, Phyllis (Doug) Wheeler.

George will be deeply and sadly missed. May He Rest In Peace.
