Celebrating The Life Of Georgina Johnson
Georgina Margaret Johnson, age 74, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026 with family by her side. She was born on October 29, 1951, in Wadena, Saskatchewan and lived a life filled with love, dedication, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Georgina grew up in Hendon, Saskatchewan, later attending school in both Hendon and Wadena. It was during these early years that she met Leon Johnson, the love of her life. After completing school, they moved to Melfort, beginning their life together. They later lived in Leduc, Alberta, before returning to Saskatchewan in 1980. They purchased and operated the service station at the junction of Highways 35 and 49, “Leon’s Corner Service”, becoming a valued part of the community.
In 1995, Georgina and Leon moved to Wadena, where she continued to build a life rooted in family, kindness, and meaningful connections. With a compassionate heart and a natural gift for caregiving, Georgina received Continuing Care Aide Diploma and worked with Home Care in Kelvington, later in Wadena, and eventually at Pleasant View Care Home, where she continued caring for others until her illness.
Georgina is lovingly remembered by her: two sons, Rory (Janelle) and Christopher (Cindy); two grandsons Zack and Luke; sister Roseanne Banks; and sisters-in-law Irma Johnson and Doris Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless close friends - all who cherished her deeply.
Georgina was predeceased by her: husband Leon; parents, Stephie and Metro Korenchuck; and her brother Jack.
Georgina found joy in many of life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved bowling, cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, watching her beloved Toronto Blue Jays, attending concerts, and tending to her garden where her flowers thrived under her care. She especially enjoyed spending warm summer days relaxing on the deck with family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, and a glass of wine or a beer and clam - moments that became treasured memories for those who joined her there.
Above all, Georgina will be remembered for her kind heart, her ability to give the best hugs, and her unwavering willingness to help a neighbour or friend. Georgina’s warmth, generosity, and compassion touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
