In Loving Memory Of Dean Closson

Dean Grant Closson was born at Kenaston, SK on Nov. 3, 1926 to Grant and Velma (McVeigh) Closson. After they homesteaded there, they then moved to the Archerwill, Nora area and finally settled at Clair, SK.

Dean was raised with six siblings: Shirley Rusch, Alvin, Joyce Eskelson, Clifford, Gerry and Arlene Brice. He was very proud to join the army when he was 18 and served until the war ended earning the rank of Corporal. The Closson brothers farmed at Clair for many years. Dean ended up custom combining down into the States and then moved to Regina, SK and worked as a farm labourer, for the Kelly family just outside Regina.

Dean’s love of the land and farming was strong! He also worked as a security guard, mailman and flipped many houses and vehicles that he fixed up! Dean was an extremely hardworking guy and although he never had children, he was very close to his nieces and nephews. In fact in his funeral preparation notes he listed “Uncle” as one of his occupations.

Dean went on trips to Vancouver, Hawaii and a road trip down through the States with his friend Ernie.

When Dean’s partner Edreda passed away, it was clear he needed to be closer to his family, so he sold the big house on King Street in Regina and moved to Wadena, SK. After falling and breaking his hip, he moved to Pleasant View Care Home where he resided until his passing, with family at his side.

Dean is survived by his sister Joyce Eskelson, who is 101 years young and many nieces and nephews.

Uncle Dean will be remembered for being the most gentle and kind man who had a heart of gold! We will all miss him so much but entrust him into the arms of Jesus.
