Obituary of Linda Markusson

In Loving Memory Of Linda Markusson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Heather Markusson (née Gordon) on April 10, 2026, at the age of 80.

Linda was born August 10, 1945, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to David and Louise Gordon. She was the fourth of seven children and grew up in Atikokan, Ontario. In her late teens Linda moved to Toronto where she worked in the Bank of Commerce in the Statistics Department and at Kresge’s Department store. During that time Linda met Glen Markusson, the love of her life for 62 years. In 1964, they married and together, made their home in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. Glen was a grain farmer and Linda soon, with the guidance of her mother-in-law Hannah, learned to drive, garden, attend horticultural events and became active in community affairs.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She raised her three children: Jeff, Connie and Paula; Linda took great pride in her family. Linda served on the Foam Lake School Board, participated in church and local organizations such as the United Church Women’s League, Vatnybggd Club, Bertdale Ladies, Bertdale Community Club, Ways and Means Committee and Perogie Ladies.  Linda enjoyed curling, bowling, making puzzles, knitting, sewing and doing crafts. She loved her time on the computer, where she played games, kept in touch by text, and pursued her curiosity through research. Linda worked at the Foam Lake Bowling Alley, answered phones for Combine Lotto and was a scrutineer at Elections.

Linda was a warm soul who enjoyed spending time with family, friends, children, cuddling babies and meeting new people. She was known for her comforting hugs, kindness, welcoming nature and her love of visiting, playing cards and sharing time with others.

Linda also enjoyed traveling, with trips to Germany and France, USA, cruising the Caribbean and traveling across North America. There were many trips to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and as far as the Maritimes creating lasting memories with loved ones.

Linda will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity and her dedication to her family and community.

Linda is survived by: her husband, Glen Markusson; her children, Jeff (Ben, Hannah, and Everleigh), Connie (Brooke and Bailey) and Paula (Jenna, Gavin, and Samantha); her brother Allan Gordon (Lynell); sisters-in-law Fran Gordon and Sharon Gordon; brother-in-law Brian Mozell, brother-in-law Richard Markusson (Doris) and brother-in-law Colin (Dianne) Markusson; sister-in-law Karen Markusson; brother-in-law Greg Markusson and numerous well-loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
