Obituary of Theresa Grodecki

In Loving Memory Of Theresa Grodecki

It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa Mary Grodecki after her sudden passing  on April 23, 2026, at her home in Regina. Theresa was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan, on March 28, 1954, to Stanley and Mary Grodecki (née Piatkowski). She grew up on the family farm near Wishart and later in Wynyard. She ultimately made her home in Regina, where she remained until her passing.

Theresa was a natural caregiver who showed her love through quiet, thoughtful acts. Working gently behind the scenes, she made sure birthdays were marked with special drop-offs, Jan Lake fishing trips were carefully planned, and fresh vegetables from the garden were always plentiful. She gave generously without expectation, preferring to avoid the spotlight and let her kindness speak for itself.

Her greatest pride and joy were her nieces and nephews, and later her cherished “greats.” As a devoted aunty, Theresa rarely missed a moment that mattered—sports games, cadet ceremonies, church events, Halloween, or family milestones. She regularly dropped off surprise treats for holidays, birthdays, or just because. A practice that brought so much joy every time the “Auntie T Fairy” came for visit.

Throughout her life, Theresa enjoyed her time travelling with her family, reading, and crocheting. Caring for others, however,  was at the heart of Theresa’s life, especially her devotion to her mother, Mary. She traveled often to Wynyard to help tend the gardens in town and on the farm. Even after Mary’s passing, Theresa lovingly carried on the tradition of Baba’s big garden, making the drive several times a week to weed and water. That abundant garden continued to nourish her nieces and nephews with cucumbers, carrots, and potatoes. Her love for family was apparent but never more than during the Grodecki family’s annual fishing trip to Three Lakes Camp at Jan Lake—a cherished tradition she held close to her heart.

Theresa leaves to mourn her passing, her brothers: James (Geraldine) of Regina, Lawrence of Yorkton, and David (Bonnie) of Melville. She is also survived by her precious nieces and nephews: Nick (Michelle) Grodecki and their children James, Oscar, and Austin; Kathryn Grodecki (Mike Parkinson) and their children Alistair and Maggie; Hannah (Troydon Szarkowicz) Grodecki; and Tyler (Bryn Blocka) Grodecki.

Theresa was welcomed to her Heavenly home into loving arms by her parents, Stanley and Mary Grodecki; her sisters, Anastasia and Veronica; her Babas and Gidos; and her very special uncle, Harry Piatkowski.

We are heartbroken knowing she is no longer here to celebrate our accomplishments and milestones, but we take comfort in knowing that Theresa is with God and her sister Veronica, whom she so dearly missed. The world was a better place with her in it, and her impact will forever be carried by her family.

Funeral service will take place on Saturday May 23 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Wishart, SK. Internment to follow.

Donations in Theresa’s memory may be made to Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Wishart District, SK.
