Obituary of Florence Carbno

Celebrating The Life Of Florence Carbno

Florence Carbno earned her angel wings on August 1, 2026.

Florence Ellen born as the fourth of eight children to Earl and Elsie Leitch on November 1, 1940, in Wadena, Saskatchewan. Florence received her education at Willow Glen and Kelvington schools. After graduation, she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in St John, Quebec, achieving the rank of AW2 as a Fighter Control Operator. After eighteen months, she returned home and married Oliver Carbno. To this union, four children were born. Family meant everything to Florence and she was happiest spending time with those she loved.

Florence enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren take part in their many activities, cuddling and playing with her great-grandchildren, sharing family suppers, and playing countless games of crib, Wizard, Kaiser, horse racing, and canasta. A Friday canasta game often became a "you might as well stay" weekend, lasting until Sunday. She also played many card games with neighbours, friends, and family. Despite her busy family life, Florence devoted many hours to her community through the United Church Board, Wadena Arts Council, local and district School Divisions, the Wadena Curling Club, and the Wadena Recreation Board. She was also self-employed as a childcare provider for many families, worked as custodian of the Wadena Public Health office, and sold Watkins products.

Survived by her: loving children William (Linda), Brenda (Grant), Michael (Lisa), Ona (Dwayne); grandchildren Glenn (Wendy), Candice (Steven), Thomas (Cailin), Brittany (Stephen), Dylon (Alexa), Daysha (Korsen); great-grandchildren Hudson, Nora and Jamieson; siblings Alex (Jackie), Jackie, Kathleen, and Eldon (Carol); sisters-in-law Dianne, Sharon, May, Patti, Alfreda; brothers-in-law Arthur and Gary as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded by her: husband Oliver; parents Elsie and Earl Leitch; siblings Keith, Eileen (Alex), Don; Oliver’s parents Juineta and Stanley Carbno, and stepfather William Reynolds; brothers-in-law Clifford (Charlotte), Michael, Wallace, Noel, and Maurice; sisters-in-law Susan, Jeanette (Anthony), and Linda.
