On November 22, 2018 Helen Alice Axman, at age 84, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Integrated Care Center in Lestock, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of 9 children born to Mike and Mary Moyer. She attended Bimbo School until Grade 8. She married Bert on June 20, 1959. They worked together on the farm along with raising two children. Later on she decided to start working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she eventually became a nurses aid. She continued to work there up until she retired after 25 years. Bert and Helen eventually sold the farm and moved into town. They enjoyed going camping and fishing, and they also took a bus tour to Alaska. After Bert’s passing in 1999, Helen continued to enjoy travelling with her friends and playing cards. She kept busy keeping her garden and yard weed free and helping raise her grandchildren. In 2006, due to her health concerns she moved into Cupar Nursing Home. In 2014, she moved into St. Joseph’s Integrated Care Center in Lestock so she could be closer to home. She was fortunate enough to be taken care of by many of the people she so much enjoyed working with. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her two children Lorne (Lana) Axman and Karen (Rod) Vass; her grandchildren Bryan Axman (Delia), Brittany (Ryan) Chamberlain, Kristen Vass (Dan), Kari Vass (Nav) and Evan Vass; her great granddaughter Alva Axman; sister-in-law Eileen Moyer and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband Bert; brothers Joe (Margaret), Mike (Mary), Bill (Eileen), Steve, Louie, and Gabe; sisters Hazel (Alex) and Mary (Andy); sisters-in-law Margaret and Mary; and brothers-in-law Alex and Andy.
