Obituary
In Loving Memory of Martha Kapeluck Martha Kapeluck joined her husband Steve, in heaven, on April 20, at the age of 85, in the Wadena Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.Martha was born to Peter and Tekla (Zimrose) Zuber on the family homestead at High-Tor, Sask. She was the sixth of eight children: Ann Sobool (deceased), Stella Malan, Chris Broad, Judy Cole, Natalie Tysowski, Sally Maes (deceased), and Ben Zuber (deceased). She attended the Kinloch School until Grade 8, and for awhile she stayed home to help her parents on the farm. Her first paying job was working at the Hawyrluk’s farm, just south of Valley Plain. Later she waitressed at the Wadena Hotel Restaurant, and lastly was employed by Maurice and Pearl Yurkiw at the Wadena Bakery. She eventually became nanny and housekeeper for the Yurkiw's.It was at a dance that she met the love of her life, Steve Kapeluck and after a short courtship, they started their 55 years of marriage on July 21, 1957. In 1963, Martha and Steve made their own family farm, two miles north of Clair. It was there on the farm, they raised their five children, instilling in them values to live by: hard work, waste nothing, and always complete everything you start with pride.Martha and Steve worked side by side, day in and day out, whether they were milking cows, feeding pigs, picking roots, or tending the garden. Martha hauled grain and made countless trips to the field, yet she made sure that meals were on time. She always had coffee prepared, at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., “coffee time”, served in the field, in the yard or in her home, a tradition treasured by her family. The appearance of the farmyard was very important to both her and Steve. Martha’s enormous gardens and flowerbeds were her pride, and visitors were always marveled. Martha took the time to do everything properly and with care, be it her appearance, her home, her cooking or her garden. In 2010, she and Steve retired to Wadena. She proudly remained living in their home, until her passing. Martha enjoyed cooking, baking, curling, fishing, dancing and playing cards. She loved traveling with Steve and they made trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and wintered in Arizona for many years. All of these trips build new friendships and lasting memories. In her 80’s, she traveled to South Australia to visit her grandchildren, a trip she loved to often reminisce about. Martha's faith was deep and she was a very active member of the All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church.Martha is survived by her children: Telka (Glen) Grady, Therese (Marc) Paquette, Terrance (Debbie) Kapeluck, Steven (Heather) Kapeluck, Donald Kapeluck; her 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family Funeral Service 10:00 A.M.
