Box 1293 Wynyard, SK S0A 4T0 Florence was born to Archie and Ethel Williams on March 21, 1932, at Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. She grew up on a small farm with a large closely-knit family south of the hamlet of Clair. Florence attended Quill Lakeview school, a one-room country school. After finishing school, she moved to Wynyard to work as a nanny and later as a store clerk. It was while working as a store clerk that she was introduced to her future husband, Siggi Johannesson, by his father who thought her to be a lovely young woman. He was right, and Florence married Siggi on June 10, 1963. They resided on the Johannesson family farm until their new daughter, Laurel, was six months old. They then moved to their own home in Wynyard, where Florence lived until she moved into Maple Grove in 2019. Unfortunately, just four years after their marriage, Siggi suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in 1967. After Laurel started school, Florence went to work at the Macleods store in Wynyard, where she served for over twenty-five years. She was known for her thorough knowledge of every machine part and item in the store and was a highly valued asset to the business. Florence was a tireless volunteer. She regularly worked at and contributed to fundraisers for the United Church, and she was also one of the founding members of the Wynyard Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to work in her yard, tending her flowers, trimming her numerous trees, and growing vegetables. She was a voracious reader, often finishing two books in a week. Florence was predeceased by her husband Sigfus (Siggi); parents, Archie and Ethel Williams; mother and father-in-law, Gudrun and Thorarinn Johannesson; sisters Grace Williams, Mabel Gislason, Evelyn Schedel-Lawrence, Blanche Broad, and Alice Erickson; brothers Leslie Williams, Harry Williams, and William (Bill) Williams; sisters-in-law Maria Bell, Ivy Williams, Doris Williams, Fjola Williams, Phyllis Johannesson, Anne Johannesson; Hannah Legere, and Mildred Tapper; brothers-in-law Eddie Erickson, Marvin Bonnar, Carl Gislason, Allan Johnson, Edward Broad, Einar Johannesson, Cecil Bell, Morley Douglas, Joe Johannesson, Hallgrimur (Mike) Johannesson, Robert Schedel, and Frank Legere. Florence is survived by her daughter Laurel Johannesson and son-in-law Marty Kaufman; sisters Mae Johnson, and Ethel Bonnar; brother Stan Williams; sisters-in-law Emily Douglas, and Barbara Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. Florence lived with cancer for over twenty-one years and passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022, at Golden Acres, where she had lived for just five months after a three-month stay in hospital. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Acres and the Wynyard Hospital, as well as Dr. Litwin and Dr. Salter, for their compassion and caring. A special thanks to Dr. Haider, Dr. Maas, Nurse Deena, and Nurse Rebecca from the Saskatoon Cancer Centre for the exceptional care provided to Florence over the past twenty-one years.
