Obituary of Virginia Mae Short
In Loving Memory of Virginia Short
Virginia Mae Short was born to Sidney and Shirley Morrow on August 8, 1956 at the Lanigan hospital. Virginia had a younger brother, Wesley, who passed at a young age. Growing up Virginia’s family lived in Lanigan, SK, Prince George B.C., and then settled in Kandahar SK, when the family bought a farm there. Virginia attended school in Kandahar and Wynyard, SK. Virginia worked at Crawfords (the chicken plant), at the family upholstery business and as a seamstress all the while helping on the family farm, whenever she was not at a job. Virginia grew up in a family where work was always priority and there was always work to be done. Virginia married Barry Short on November 2, 1979. Their first home was in Saskatoon, SK. They moved to live in the same yard as Virginia’s parents, and then built a new home where they have lived ever since. Virginia and Barry have two children, Amanda and Shannon. Virginia was very creative and skilled at sewing and upholstery. She made moccasins, did alterations, upholstered anything requested and in later years had an embroidery machine, where she did thousands of custom orders for people across Saskatchewan. Virginia loved to bake and perfected many recipes especially scuffles. She always had freezers full of food. She canned hundred’s of jars of fruit, pickles and vegetables every year, which were a result of the gigantic garden she always tended to. Virginia loved to teach and share her knowledge with her children. Her favorite things to do with her grandchidlren; Jacey, Laren and Zieraphine, were baking, gardening and sewing. Virginia lived with Osteomyelitis. On May 11, 2022, after a lengthy hospital stay, Virginia passed away due to complications from this disease. Virginia leaves to mourn her passing: her husband of 43 years, Barry; her daughter Amanda (Ryan) Hall; her son Shannon (Rematgen) Short; her grandchildren Jacey Hall, and Laren and Zieraphine Short; as well as many extended family and friends. Virginia was predeceased by: her parents and brother as well as many extended family. We will always Love You and we will miss you forever, Barry, Amanda, Shannon, Ryan, Rematgen Jacey, Laren and Zieraphine
