Stella was born to John H. and Parascevia (Wasylynka) Bzdel on April 8, 1933, the 10th child of 12. Stella attended Rushville school in 1940 and finished in 1950. She left for Saskatoon shortly after finishing school to do housework. She worked for two different families, and made $50 a month. She saved enough money to start her Nurse's training in 1956. In March of 1957 she went to work in the hospital at Hafford, Sask. and worked there for 2 years. In 1960 she moved to Saskatoon and worked at the University Hospital in Pediatrics for two years and after that went to work at St. Paul's Hospital and worked there on the 6th floor for Women's Medical. In 1965 she moved to to Calgary and there she worked at the Cross Bow, which was a home for the elderly, and while there also worked for another old age home. In 1971 Stella moved back to Wynyard to help her sister Annie look after their parents while she worked. Annie retired after she turned 66 and Stella lived with her until 2012 when they both moved into Golden Acres in the fall of 2012. Stella was predeceased by her father John H. Bzdel (Aug. 11, 1978); mother Parascevia (Wasylynka) Bzdel (April 6, 1986); sisters - Katherine Bergquist (Oct. 16, 1916 - May 5, 1987) husband John Bergquist (May 5, 1911 - Oct. 28, 1986); Minnie Chymycz (April 1, 1919 - May 24, 1995) husband Nick Chymycz (Sept. 18, 1903 - Jan. 20, 1998); Annie Bzdel (April 24, 1921 - Dec. 20, 2012); Mary Bergquist (Dec. 22, 1922 - Sept. 1, 1998) husband Robert Bergquist (Sept. 20, 1922 - Jan. 3, 2000); Eva Thomas (March 5, 1924 - Feb. 1, 1996) husband Joe Thomas (Aug. 13, 1917 - Mach 23, 2001); brothers - Raymond Bzdel (May 5, 1925 - Aug. 26 , 2013) wife Laurette Bzdel (July 22, 1931 - Aug. 16, 2013); William Bzdel (April 4, 1927 - Oct. 27, 2000); Steve Bzdel (July 21, 1928 - Mar. 21, 2003); and Harry Bzdel (Feb. 13, 1931 - June 28, 2011) Left to mourn Stella's passing are her sister Martha and husband Don Skopyk; and brother Peter and wife Gayle; also numerous nieces and nephews.
