She was named Teodora, after her grandmother, but was always known as Doris. Doris went to Moosehorn School at the age of 8 not knowing any English. She was a quick learner and did very well. Her favourite subject was art and she loved to draw. She left school after completing Grade 7. In 1946, Doris met Joe Kryzanowski at a picnic in Fosston and they were married July 22, 1947. They lived on a farm near Fosston and had three children, Dennis (1949), Lawrence (1953) and Shirley (1957). In 1965, Joe passed away at the age of 43. On February 4, 1967, Doris married John Ozimek and lived on a farm near Hendon. In 1968, they had a daughter, Gloria. After farming for a few years they moved to Humboldt in 1975 and then back to Wadena in 1982. Doris was a talented homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, making perogies and hosting countless dinners. She decorated many birthday and wedding cakes as well. Her passion was definitely sewing and crotcheting. In the early years, she sewed clothes for herself and her family and then later she enjoyed patch work quilting. She has made over 200 quilts and loved giving them away for gifts. Doris started working outside the home in 1982 for Homecare in Wadena. She loved this job and stayed with it for 9 years. John and Doris retired in their home in Wadena. They enjoyed spending their time playing cards, gardening and planting flowers. They took pride in keeping their yard beautiful. In 2008, they sold their home and moved to Weneeda Park Lodge and then settled in Spruce Manor in 2009. John passed away in 2011. Doris remained in Wadena until March 2013 when she moved to Stony Plain, Alberta to be closer to family. Doris quickly made many new friends in Stony Plain and loved to share her Saskatchewan stories. She was loved by so many people. On the afternoon of October 15, 2021 at the age of 94, Doris passed away peacefully sitting in her favourite chair in her room at the Good Samaritan Care Centre in Stony Plain. Doris was predeceased by her infant sister Annie; her parents Joseph and Nellie; her brother Mike; her sister Mary; her husband Joe; her son Lawrence; her infant grand-daughter Sarah; and her husband John. Doris is survived by her children Dennis, Shirley (Shawn) and Gloria (Michael); grandson Tyler (Kaitlin) and great grand-daughter Brinley; grand-daughter Candice (Shane); grandsons Jordan and Logan; and brother Paul (Beatrice). Doris will be remembered for her kindness, patience, resiliency and her beautiful smile. She leaves behind a legacy of quilts, doilies, afghans and recipes for all of us to cherish! She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
