Obituary
Leonard Nanaquawetung Elder Leonard Clement Nanaquawetung was born on January 31,1946 at Fishing Lake, Saskatchewan to parents Stella and Jack Nanaquawetung. Leonard was happily married to Vivian Desjarlais and dedicated to her care until her passing in 2013. Leonard worked in the oil industry for many years. He worked on the Oil Rigs in Canada, The United States, Europe, and Mexico. His work ethic reflected determination and leadership. He inspired many young men to go out into the world to find their path. Leonard, in his later years returned to his home community and served as a respected Elder. His work inspired and helped many of his fellow Fishing Lake Band members. Leonard was a generous man, others needs came before his own. He was humble and very well respected by all ages. His loss will be greatly felt in the community. Leonard was a father who taught his children the importance of being committed to pursuing your goals. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to work hard and make your way in the world. Leonard is predeceased by: his parents, Stella and Jack Nanaquawetung; his wife, Vivian; his youngest son Brett; his siblings, Luke, Alice, Cecile, Caroline, Vincent, Geraldine, Aaron, Clayton, and Joyce. Leonard is survived by: his children, Cindy (Cory), Melanie, Virgil, Lincoln (Lisa); his siblings, Delvina, Leona, and Ivan; his grandchildren, Justin, Ricky, Hudson, Lauren, Alison, Meagan, Cameron, and Cole; his long time spiritual friend, John Kayseas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
