Obituary
In Loving Memory of Therese (Terry) Eberts Our mom passed away peacefully at Golden Acres, Wynyard, Sask. on February 2, 2022. She was born on February 15, 1933, in Fort Frances, Ontario to Georgina and Prosper Davidson. In the early 1950’s she met a Saskatchewan farmer, John Baker. They were wed October 20, 1953, then settled on the family homestead near Bechard, Sask. In 1956 they welcomed their first child, Rosanna and welcomed their second daughter, Mariette in 1959. Our dad’s health forced us to move to Regina in 1965, giving mom the opportunity to begin her career as a nurses’ aide at the Grey Nuns Hospital. She was respected and admired by her patients and the staff alike. In 1974 dad succumbed to heart problems leaving mom a young widow. A few years later she met a widower, Leo Eberts and they were married in 1977. In 1998 they moved to Wynyard, Sask. to be closer to us and the grandchildren. Mom and Leo had many wonderful years together. They especially enjoyed polka fests, camping across Canada and the USA then finally buying a place in McAllen, Texas where they lived for many winters. She also enjoyed fishing and a good game of cards or dominos. Leo passed away in 2020 from dementia. Soon after his diagnosis mom’s health began to change leading to shingles, a stroke, then a serious intestinal infection resulting in her being unable to care for herself. At this time, she moved into Golden Acres where she settled in nicely. She enjoyed the food, especially Kim’s flapper pie, various activities but especially bingo, which nurtured her love of gambling! She enjoyed her TV and was a staunch follower of the Bachelor and Bachelorette as well as ‘her boys’, the Property Brothers. But most of all she adored the staff. We have learned that they spoiled her, and she loved it! She was a master of many things. Whatever her creative mind could imagine her talented hands could produce. She loved knitting, crocheting, baking, upholstery but most of all sewing which started at the age of 8. But one thing she couldn’t do was keep a plant alive! She was a generous person, whether it was the giving of advice, keeping her 3 cookie jars full for the grandkids, taking on a difficult sewing project for a friend or offering fresh baking to a neighbor. She gave to multiple charities in Wynyard and outside the community. Loved ones who passed before her include her parents and 8 siblings as well as sons-in-law, Bruce Melsted and Murray McDermid. Those of us who will continue to cherish her include: Rosanna (John Gartley) of Monaca, Pennsylvania and Mariette (Bruce Meisner) of Saskatoon. Grandchildren: Ryan (Kayla) Melsted and Dylan, Cooper, Oliver of Wynyard; Graham (Alana) Melsted and Ayden, Mya and Alyxa of Wynyard; Raeanne Muir and Emily and Sam of London, Ont.; Adrienne Jackson and Matthew and Anna of Wynyard; Jillian McDermid (Jordan Kelly) and Evelyn of Saskatoon. Mom was cremated and we will celebrate her life this summer when her remains will be buried in Regina. We ask that instead of flowers you donate to Golden Acres’ WiFi campaign. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date Memorial donations in memory of Terry may be made to The Golden Acres WiFi Campaign PO Box 2 Wynyard, SK S0A 4T0 Those wishing to send cards of sympathy to her family may do so to The Eberts Family PO Box 1774 Wynyard, SK S0A 4T0
