Obituary
In Loving Memory of Mike Surman Mike Harold Surman was born on September 30, 1928 at Dunblane, Sask. He is one of five children born to Stefanus, Henrica Surman. His older siblings were Bernadette, Margaret, and Felix (Phil) and his younger sibling, Henry. Mike worked for the CN railroad, first on the section crew, then as a station agent. Mike met the love of his life, Shirley, while stationed in Somme. Mike’s brother Phil was dating Olga, Shirley’s sister. So the 2 brothers married 2 sisters. Mike was stationed at approximately 40 stations and retired when the railroad closed in Melfort, his last posting. Mike loved to go fishing and would treck down the ½ mile logging road through the muskeg to the Iskwasum rapids. He enjoyed going to the casino, and puttering in his garden. The garden was always bountiful. Mike and Shirley had 2 children: Carl “Darwin” and Barbara. Mike and Shirley loved their time at their cabin in Greenwater Lake, SK. The fire pit was going the whole time and the coffee was always hot. Mike is survived by: his sister, Bernadette Kulak; his brother, Henry Surman; his son Darwin (Sharon) Surman; daughter Barbara (Brian) Kobelsky; grandchildren, Terri Suman, Tim (Willa) Surman, Melissa Kobelsky, Pamela Kobelsky, Amanda (Derek) Lepage, Daniel (Alanna) Kobelsky, Matthew Kobelsky; great-grandchildren, Blake and Cole Noga, Michael and Hailey Ward, Nathan and Aurelia Lepage and Audyn and Elliot Kobelsky as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Burial 11:00 A.M.
