Donations in memory of Russel may be made to the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary, Box 1873, Wynyard, SK S0A 4T0 It is with great sadness that the family of Russ Johnston announces his peaceful passing with family by his side on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the age of 89. Russ will be lovingly remembered by his companion, Shirley Ainsley; his children, Lana, (Tom) Deb (Hank), Diane, Bob (Laurie), Kelly, Don (Val). Russ will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Tara (Gary), Wendy (Albert), Kirk (Roey), Ryan, Courtney, Skylar (Kolten), Tayler, Melissa (Mike), Katelyn (Chris), Jaimie (El-Marie), and Lance. Great-granchildren; Tryggvi, Signy, Trystan, Addyson, Samantha, Max, Sander, Drake, Kira, Kadyn, Noah, and Emma. Russ was predeceased by his parents, Frank, and Susie; his wife, Mary; daughter, Pat; and sons-in-law, Terry, and Jack. Russ was born on April 25, 1927 in Carberry, Manitoba. He worked for three years for Manitoba Hydro and then moved to Saskatchewan to start his career at Saskatchewan Power. He worked in Indian Head, Watson, and Carlyle before settling in Wynyard in 1954. He loved sports, managing hockey teams, as well as coaching and umping ball. He was very proud of being a Mason, and teaching Dale Carnegie. He sacrificed a lot to ensure his family had an annual vacation. Russ will be sadly missed by his family, and the community.
