Fred Caylan Eulogist: Cari Hannah Scripture Readers: Sharon Crone & Tony Katchmar Cross bearer: Riley Korolchuk Gift bearers: Deann Horton & Corrie Stoll Intentions: Gloria Leader Urnbearers: Roxane, Kyler, Kiana Wickstrom & Owen Wickstrom Eerin was born on April 15, 1975, in Kelvington, SK to Larry Wickstrom and Yvonne Althouse. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Wadena, SK. Throughout his younger years always with his brother, Owen, they kept busy playing hockey, biking and of course with their passion of horses, including gymkhana, chariots, and chuckwagons. On July 29, 2006, Eerin married the love of his life Roxane Korolchuk in Quill Lake, SK, and they resided on an acreage near Wadena, SK. They brought two beautiful children into this world Kyler Chase (June 5, 2007) and Kiana Mae (July 30, 2009). Although Eerin remained a cowboy at heart his new passion became his children. He was an extremely proud dad and ALWAYS kept his children near him. Eerin often took them with him out to his family farm, coached hockey, fishing and camping, to the fairs to enjoy the races and the rides, and also on family holidays. Eerin worked hard as a farmer, but also enjoyed time with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, and of course the races. He also LOVED to tease, and will ALWAYS be remembered by the grin on his face and the sparkle in his eyes. Eerin will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 7 years, Roxane (nee Korolochuk); two children Kyler and Kiana; his parents Larry (Daphne) Wickstrom and Yvonne (the late Wes) Althouse; brother Owen (Roxie) and children Nicole, Cody, Dallas, and Jaydon; sister-in-law Michelle (Tim) Sutton and children Jamie and Dallas; brother-in-law Bryan (Nancy) and children Riley, Rayanne, Kaiden and Kylan; and his mother and father-in-law Martin and Sophie Korolchuk. Eerin will also be missed by countless family and friends. Eerin was predeceased by his grandparents: Carl and Glayds Wickstrom; and John and Nellie Lysyshen; and step father Wes Althouse. Eulogy: On behalf of the family I would like to thank each and everyone of you for coming today, your presence here is a true testimate to what Eerin meant to so many people. My name is Cari Hannah, and I am a close friend to Roxane and Eerin. Eerin Aldon Wickstrom was born April 15th 1975 in Kelvington Saskatchewan, to Larry and Yvonne Wickstrom. Their son Owen was 2 1/2 yrs old when he welcomed his new baby brother. They brought him home to their farm in the rosebud district. Eerin was 18 months old when he sat on his first horse. Which sparked a love for horses to such an extent, that he had 2 oranges cats (inkie and bowzer). His Grandpa Lysyshen made Eerin a horse chariot and harness for those two orange cats, and that was his first chariot team. He'd hook the chariot up to the cats and played for hours. This was the beginning of a lifelong love for racing and having all types of interaction with horses. He was a very content child who would play for hours with his lego and toy horses and was always with his older brother Owen. He started at 5yrs old barrel racing and doing gymkhana. He was a provincial pole bending champ at a very young age, his family noticed then how he had a natural ability to compete in Chariot racing, then chuck wagons. At 6yrs old Eerin's parents separated, which led to Eerin spending a lot of time with his grandparents Carl and Gladys Wickstrom, who he truly looked up to as a second mom and dad all his life. Eerin attended his school yrs. all in Wadena Saskatchewan. His mom said he disliked school, loved horses, loved hunting, and excelled at any sport. He was an excellent curler. He was the skip on his high school team, that led them to provincials one year, but unfortunately early celebrations prevented that win. He as well was an excellent hockey player all his younger years. At age 18 Eerin was scouted to attend the Yorkton Terriors Hockey camp, but his two passions collided when the summer before camp, he rolled his Chuck wagon racing in Wadena, which sadly ended his hockey career, due to the severity of his injuries. Eerin loved racing horses very much, and this is a passion he shared with his dad Larry his whole life. Eerin met Roxane Koralchuk of Quill Lake Saskatchewan, in 1994 at a Wadena Party. Roxane was 15yrs old, and Eerin was 18 years old then, working at Wadena Steel. Roxane graduated high school and went on to Regina to get her Registered Dental Assistant Certificate, while Eerin then worked for Nelson Construction for several years doing Carpentry. In 2005 they bought an acreage northwest of Clair not far from Roxane's childhood home, where they still reside to this day. Roxane and Eerin enjoyed travelling to many warm climates, Australia, Mexico, Dominican, with family and friends while they dated because Eerin hated winter. On July 29th 2006, after 12yrs of dating, Eerin and Roxane were married in Quill Lake. Roxane was then working for Humboldt Dental Clinic (where she still is), while Eerin worked as a heavy equipment operator in Fort Nelson BC for 3 winters. On June 5th 2007 Kyler Chase Wickstrom was born. This happy moment in there life, changed Eerin forever, making him realize he could no longer work away from his family, so he quit his job, came home, and was so proud to buy farm land and start farming for a living. On July 30th 2009 Kiana Mae Wickstrom was born. These two children were the greatest accomplishments of Eerins life. He did everything with them. He spent every moment he could playing with them. They were never a burden to him. He had them all the time. He found ways to include them in his everyday life. Whether it was taking them farming all day, or on fishing trips, camping, buying them toys and candy always, taking them shopping, taking them to rodeos to watch there Grandpa Larry Wickstrom race, taking them to exhibitions, anywhere, they were always by his side. In the last few years Eerin has suffered the loss of several very important people in his life. He lost his grandpa Carl Wickstrom in 2011, and his Grandma Gladys Wickstrom in 2013, which dearly affected him. He also lost his stepdad Wes in 2012, which as well was very difficult for him to deal with, as all 3 of them played such an important role in his life. I had the privilege to have met Eerin in 2011 when my husband and family decided to move from Regina to our farm now which is located just a few miles from Roxane and Eerin's farm. Riley Hannah my husband grew up in Quill Lake with Roxane from k-12. He remembers the day Roxane was bringing her new boyfriend Eerin to a Quill Lake dance. He was driving a 1979 grey ford half ton, and everyone wondered what this 'Wadena Guy', would be like for there quill lake girl. Which they were quickly surprised how nice of a guy, with his mischievous grin on his face, turned out to be. Eerin had a heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone. After speaking to lots of people over the last few days, all I hear from everyone is how good of a guy he truly was. From his interest in the story you were telling him, to his humble nature. He was always fun to be around. He loved company coming over, and loved having drinks with many friends. He loved being an Uncle, and was known for his chocolate chip pancakes he would make for his niece and nephews. The other day he told my husband he always had a philosophy "if your good to people, they should be good back to you"! He was known to be a prankster; he liked to get a laugh out of many. He was very particular about some things, for example his new truck was always so clean. We'd bug him about scratching it or throwing mud on it, and he'd laugh all though you know he was thinking; they better not. Eerin had many friends, and was liked by everyone. But even though he was a big tough man, he had a gentle side and wasnt afraid to show his emotions. Over the past few years, my family, Trevor and Lisa Skaalrud's family, and the Wickstrom's have become very close. We've had fun camping trips together, to quading trips; to many get togethers at one another's houses. Riley and I were fortunate that this past spring, Roxane, Eerin and us played in the Chicken and Wine Curling bonspiel in Wadena. Eerin was an excellent curler. Ive never seen a man slide so close to the ice, his nose was pretty much touching the surface. Eerin had a passion for farming as well. He had a special father son bond with his dad Larry, and was so glad to be able to do it with him by his side. Eerin loved whenever kids were around, making them all laugh, chasing them, and just being a kid at heart. I remember Kiana's 2nd birthday party, he set up his pony's, and a princess wagon, and here was this big guy, sitting in this tiny wagon, surrounded by little princesses pulling them around the yard with a proud dad grin on his face. He dearly loved his wife and kids. They were his pride and joy, from being play school helper to coaching Kyler's hockey team; he didnt want to miss a thing. They were very fortunate to have travelled the past 2 winters to Cuba with the kids, and enjoyed very special family time and memories together. Eerin loved getting Kyler and Kiana ready for school, and always waited to put Kyler on the bus before he went off to farm. Just last week, Roxane showed me a picture of Kyler all dressed up for picture day. Eerin put him in a shirt and tie, hair all done, and made sure to display Kyler's belt buckle. He was so proud of his kids. He took them faithfully to Ukrainian dance all last year, and hockey for Kyler. He was so excited because Kiana was joining Kyler this winter to play hockey as well. He just said the other weekend how he was looking forward to completing harvest, so he could pull out the hockey nets and teach the kids to shoot some pucks, He was also so excited Kyler got his first fiddle this past summer and is starting lessons soon. Eerins mom had the great opportunity to Camp in Roxane and Eerins yard this past summer and spend many days with them, which I know Eerin enjoyed, He had alot of fun fishing in the boat with his kids, that his mom gave to him and Kyler from Wes. We all know we lost a wonderful friend, husband, son, uncle, brother, cousin, and father far too soon. Roxane, we are so broken for your loss. You are an amazing woman, and loved Eerin for a very long time. Dont forget how much you mean to all of us. We know Eerin is now an angel watching over you, Kyler and Kiana, His memories will always go on, he will be missed dearly, but he will never be forgotten!!
