It is with Great sadness that the family of Hank Bender announces theFuneral Service for Hank was held Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 2:00 pm Wynyard Lutheran Church Internment at Pleasant View Cemetery, Wynyard, SK. Lunch will follow in the basement of the Lutheran Church. Henry Harold Bender was born in Wynyard, Sask. on May 20, 1941. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the age of 71. He was the youngest son born to George and Helen Bender. He grew up on the family farm and went to school at Bognar and Wynyard. After his schooling he spent several years working in the oil fields of Alberta with his brother-in-law Andy Sands. He married Darlene Campbell in 1965. They had two children together - Randy and Roxy. They settled on a farm in the Copeland district. He had a dream to get into the hog industry and so he achieved his goal and built a pig barn. During this time he also took on the job of school bus driver. The hog industry declined so he decided to try a new venture. He became the store manager for Ed's Excavating and Plumbing Supplies where he spent many hours shooting the breeze with the customers and enjoying a cup of coffee with them. He continued to work there until the business closed. He then moved on to his next venture which was as the caretaker at the regional park where, again, the coffee pot was always on. Henry was happiest when he was outdoors sitting with a coffee cup in one hand and a smoke in the other. "Hank" was known for his big smile and bubbly personality and his sometimes risque comments. He didn't like to be the center of attention but he left his mark on anybody he met along the way. He will be very much missed! He was predeceased by his parents George and Helen and brother Alec. He will be greatly missed by son Randy (Tara) Bender and grandchildren Tyler and Tia, daughter Roxy, wife Darlene, sisters Olga and Anne (Andy) Sands, brothers George (Sylvia) Bender, Art (Valda) Bender, sisters-in-law Marilyn, Sheila (Terry) Doidge, Shirley (Ed) McSymytz, brother-in-law Frank (Mari-Ann) Campbell and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations will be forwarded to the Wynyard Hospital Auxillary, Wynyard, SK. Condolences will be forwarded to the family via this website.
