Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 Foam Lake United Church Foam Lake, Saskatchewan Memorial Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital For Children - Canada 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, SK S4P 2W1 Born May 11, 1933 in the Dominion of Newfoundland, Raymond was the son of George and Julia King (nee Taylor) and grandson of Captain Joseph Taylor who captained the schooner “M.J. Taylor”. Ray began his education in Newfoundland and completed it in Toronto, Ontario. Ray moved to Uranium City, Saskatchewan in 1951 where he met and married Nancy (Lowe) July 5, 1954. Ray and Nancy raised their four children in the beautiful community of Uranium City where he was Hospital Administrator for 20 years. They decided to move to Foam Lake in 1983 where Raymond continued his work as Hospital Administrator. Raymond’s love of community showed in his building of the Foam Lake Bowling Centre, and his commitment to serve as Mayor of Foam Lake for 9 years. Being a grandson and son of a Mason, Ray was proud to continue the family tradition of becoming a member. He was actively involved in Shrine activities. Ray was also an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Kiwanis Organization. Raymond was an active member of each of his organizations and generous donator to areas of his life where he was so involved. Ray and Nancy loved travelling internationally throughout their many years together, bringing home pictures and treasured memorabilia from all areas of the world. As family was so important to Ray and Nancy, they have hosted many “Christmas’ in July” celebrations bringing the “Easterners” and “Westerners” together. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Nancy; son Paul (Sharon) of Saskatoon; daughters Julia of Wynyard, Elizabeth (Grant) of Milden and Carolyn (Shawn) of Calgary; his six grandchildren, the apples of his eye, Megan, Kyle, Ryan (Anna), Raeanne (Kyle), Reid and Rachel; his brother Gerald King of Toronto; sisters-in-law Linda Moore of Chilliwack and Aviva King of Ottawa; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ray was predeceased by his parents George and Julia King; his brother Jim King; his sisters Kay Oliver and Paula Jemmett; his mother-in-law Edna Lowe; and his brothers-in-law John Jemmett and Allan Oliver.
