Obituary
Harold Schultz of Wadena passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years, with his family by his side at the Wadena Hospital on November 21, 2014. Harold John Schultz was born on July 5, 1936 at the Wadena Hospital to Ed and Mary Schultz. He received his education at the Rosa School near Kuroki where he attended until grade 8 at which time he started his first construction job running a bull dozer on the construction of the South Saskatchewan River (Gardiner Dam). He also went on to do maintenance construction on the Alaska Highway. Harold married Joanne Trobak on June 1, 1962 and were blessed with two children, Richard and Robyn. At this time, Harold had bought his own backhoe and had his own construction company installing water and sewer into various small towns in the Aberdeen area. They later moved to Yorkton where he worked at Parkland Iron Works. This is where he learned ornamental iron works, a trade that he later carried onto his own business, Wadena Iron Works, that he ran in Wadena starting in 1968. It was during this time that he also did many repairs for local farmers and eventually went on to help with seeding and harvest when he had time and many lifelong friendships were created. After retiring from the welding business, Harold spent his next years working at Campbell's Massey Ferguson and Wheatbelt and helping in the field during evenings and weekends for his friends. He later helped Shaun and Robyn for many years on their farm doing whatever he could to help out. Harold will be sadly missed but forever remembered for the deep love and pride he had for his grandchildren. He dedicated his life to being at almost every hockey game and dance recital and wouldn't have had it any other way. Harold loved curling, hunting, collecting and selling antiques, woodworking and building and refinishing furniture, creating many timeless pieces for family and friends. Harold was predeceased by his wife Joanne Schultz, son Richard Schultz, parents Ed and Mary Schultz, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nils and Rosella Trobak, brothers-in-law, Leo Gerlinsky and Russell Hawley. Left to mourn Harold's passing are his daughter Robyn (Shaun) Berezuik, grandson Castor Berezuik and granddaughters Helena and Jayna Berezuik and Mackenzie and Paige Schultz; brothers, William (Anne) Schultz, Hazel Gerlinsky, Evelyn (John) Durance, Joan Hawley, Gordon Schultz, Brenda (Dale) Goodsmen, Marion Smale, brother-in-law Nils (Edna) Trobak, brother-in-law, Delvin (Pat) Trobak and many nieces and nephews.
