Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jean Zadorozniak

Jean (Kuzub) Zadorozniak was born December 10, 1937 in the West Bend district of Saskatchewan to Vasilka (Hluchman) and Elias Kuzub. This was a large family, as was common, with fifteen children born to the family and eleven surviving to adulthood. She passed at the Foam Lake Jubilee Home late in the evening of November 22, 2023. All of her children had been present and said their farewells earlier in the evening.

Mom and Dad met at a Remembrance Day Service in 1951. They were married within the year, on October 20, 1952 in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at Sheho, Saskatchewan. Soon after their marriage, they headed east to Ontario. Their first child, Linda Jean, came into the world nine months and one day after

their wedding. Within the year they had returned to Saskatchewan and begun their lifetime of working hard at farming. They continued living on the farm until the fall of 2010.

Mom worked so hard at everything she did—raising poultry, quilting, making perogies, farmwork -- from picking rocks and roots by hand to hauling bales and doing chores and helping to repair equipment. Life was not easy for this feisty, little woman but she enjoyed a good laugh, listening to music and dancing. She was a bit of an artist, drawing with her young children and grandchildren.

Mom and Dad enjoyed a few vacations in Ontario and British Columbia. They enjoyed some time at various casinos and especially liked when relatives came to visit and spend several days in a tiny house with no running water. Food was always abundant and she liked to help her nieces milk the cows and do chores her own kids didn’t enjoy.

Mom always enjoyed coming to our homes for a meal, especially at holiday times, when she didn’t have to cook. She raised children in her home for 35 years from the first child’s birth to the youngest child’s graduation. She was tired of cooking!

Mom was predeceased by her: husband, Nick Zadorozniak on April 7, 2011 and son Robert in November, 2006. Robert’s passing left a huge hole in her heart. Her siblings John, Doreen, Peter, Matt, Alex, Steve and Mike have also predeceased her.

Jean is survived by: her sisters Natalie Hayward, Anne (Rene Belanger) and Margaret (Bud) Ford; her children Linda (Ted) Kreklewetz, Nicolette (Brian) Kolybaba and Cory (Michelle Kopec); Eleven grandchildren – Vanessa (Lynn) Smyth, Kris Kreklewetz (Alexandra) Sawel, Meghan (Josh) Gervais, Braden (Marcie) Kolybaba, Carter (Kailey) Kolybaba, Ryan (Suzy) Zadorozniak, Dylan (Brianne) Zadorozniak, Brennan (Allysa) Zadorozniak, Mason (Kim) Zadorozniak, Darian Zadorozniak and Jensen Zadorozniak; Great grandchildren -  Mikkia (Emma), Kaelan, Colten, Harrison, Bennett, Ari, Nora, Roman, Kane, Wren, Colt, Georgia and Ally.

May her memory be eternal!
