In Loving Memory of Carol Tomblin

On December 6th, 2023, Carol Anne Tomblin passed away peacefully at Wynyard hospital with family by her side. Carol was born on August 7th, 1945 in Wadena, Saskatchewan. Carol attended school in Mozart and Wynyard before going on to Teacher’s College in Regina. From the time she was young, Carol enjoyed music and would spend time kicking her heels up at various events. In fact, one of the highlights of her schooling in Regina was going to many College functions and dancing with George Reed.

Carol went on to use her teaching degree. Her first posting was at Lockwood, where she spent two years, subsequently moving on to public school in Wynyard, where she was still teaching when she married Colin Tomblin in 1968. After they wed, Carol worked for a short time with Saskatchewan Indian Affairs, until they relocated to Weyburn.

In Weyburn, Carol began working at the Bank of Montreal where she stayed for over 3 years, until her and Colin adopted a baby girl, and Carol decided to stay at home to raise her full time.

When their daughter turned 2 years old, Carol and Colin moved to Dawson Creek,BC where Carol continued to stay at home and raise their daughter, and subsequently their son, who they adopted one year later.

Carol stayed home until the kids were school age then went back to working for the Bank of Montreal. After the BMO, she moved to her position with the City of Dawson Creek as a Confidential Secretary to the Mayor and Council, a position she held for 10 years.

Carol enjoyed music and acting in her spare time. She even spent many years as an actor and opera singer in many productions in Dawson Creek, BC. Carol also enjoyed volunteering and giving back to the community and was a member of the Royal Purple and Dawson Creek Legion, donating her time to various events.

In 1996 Carol and Colin moved back to Wynyard. She continued her volunteering, becoming an active member of the Anglican Church and was instrumental in getting the Wynyard CARRES Group Home started, where her son now resides.

Carol is survived by her husband, Colin of 55 years, her daughter Magdalena (Cory), son Tarin, grandsons Gabriel and Silas. Brother-in-law Terry (Georgina); nephews Lyndon (Jacquie), their children Macy, Maggie and Abigail and David (Mandi), their children Chloe and Ashton. Cousins Marlene (Bill), and numerous other relatives throughout the province.

She was predeceased by her mother, Florence, and her two brothers Raymond and Robert.
