Obituary

In Loving Memory of George Holliday

The Reverend Ernest George Holliday passed away at home in Wynyard on January 8, 2024.
George was born on September 13, 1949 in Wadena to Margaret Holliday (Reynolds) and Ernest Holliday. 

He was raised on the farm north of Elfros with some winters spent in Elfros for George to attend school. 

Most of George's schooling was received in Mozart  and he graduated high school in Wynyard. 

He attended the University of Toronto and graduated with his Masters in Theology in 1973.
George has an impressive history in church ministry as a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto while he was working on his Master in Theology. 

He travelled as a missionary to Lesotho Africa in the late 1970's and early 1980's to teach ministers in seminary. 

He had many stories to tell of the unrest in South Africa and at times was in dangerous situations due to the unrest. 

He has served as a prison chaplain, supervised many congregations in addition to his duties as minister in many Pastoral charges. 

In June of 2023 George celebrated 50 years as an ordained minister.
George was a good and faithful friend.
George was predeceased by his father Ernest Holliday, his mother Margaret Holliday and his partner Dave Ford. 

He is survived by numerous cousins and friends.
