Celebrating the Life of Dennis Pisio
Our Beloved Brother and Uncle
January 23, 1951 – January 6, 2024
Dennis Allen Pisio was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan on January 23, 1951 to John and Polly Pisio (nee Merkir). He was the third eldest of nine children. Dennis grew up on his parents’ farm North of Clair. He attended Park Villa School, Lawrence School in Clair and Quill Lake High School where he graduated in 1970. Dennis then attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon where he obtained his Automotive Mechanics Certificate. After moving to Edmonton, AB in 1972, Dennis pursued and completed his Journeyman Automotive Certificate and Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate through N.A.I.T. Dennis was a very loyal and dedicated worker. After moving to Edmonton, he started working for Beta Well Services, an oil and gas drilling company where he worked for 22 years. Dennis worked his way through the company and eventually became their Equipment & Maintenance Manager responsible for maintaining and building new rigs for Beta. Dennis assembled the 1st Beta Built service rig for the Canadian market and then later built rigs for the International market. After leaving Beta, Dennis moved on to work for Irontech Rig Repair & Manufacturing. He worked there for 10 years before retiring in 2019. Dennis was proud of his achievement of building 100 rigs throughout his career. After retirement, Dennis decided to move back to the family farm to work alongside his nephew Jared and wife Haly, fulfilling his passion and love for farming where he was able to put his vast mechanical knowledge to work once more. Dennis enjoyed bowling, fishing and bird watching, but what he loved most was spending time with family. Dennis always kept his house and yard immaculate. He took great pride in planting and tending to his garden and enjoyed preserving and cooking with his garden produce. Dennis wasn’t one to sit idle. If there was something to do, he didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand or be there for you when you needed him. This was especially so when it came to his family.
Dennis’ boisterous laughter, sense of humour and caring nature will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Left to cherish Dennis’ memory are his family who all loved him dearly. Marie & Lorne Gifford, their children and grandchildren Brad & Jen Gifford (Rupert, Iris); Sean & Daysha Gifford (Madelyn, Keira, Greyson, Dominick); Tracy & Tom Arno (Austin, Cadence) Michael & Evelyn Pisio and their children and grandchildren Shawn & Kelly Pisio; Jeff & Jordana Pisio (Deacon, Lydia). Dedicated Song
“Heaven Was Needing a Hero” – Jo Dee Messina
No Sad Tears For Me
A man really never dies
while there are those
on earth who love him.
A man is never gone
as long as there are
those who remember him
with fondness...and
as long as his memory evokes
a wistful smile.
All who have loved have earned
a piece of immortality.
No sad tears for me, please...
