In Loving Memory of Leonard Wood 

Leonard David Wood, 80, of Wynyard, SK, passed away on January 16, 2024 in Wynyard.

 

Leonard was born in Wynyard to Kato and Mary Wood on February 23, 1943.

 

He attended school at Big Quill and then Wynyard before going on to earn a degree in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan.

 

On October 7, 1967 he married Joanne Emary and together they had 4 children.

 

Early on he farmed in the Kandahar area in the summers, and went to Prince George in the winter to log.

 

In 1973 they settled down for good, building a new farmhouse where they raised cattle, pigs, and chickens. He became a pedigree seed grower in the early 80's and they resided on the farm until 2018 when they moved to Wynyard.

 

He enjoyed playing hockey with the Copeland Coyotes, as well as curling and bowling.

 

He loved to fish and the family made a annual trip to Jan Lake for many summers. Leonard also enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite hockey team, the Winnipeg Jets.

 

Leonard loved to talk and after retiring from the farm and moving to Wynyard he could often be found at A & W.

 

He served as a councillor for the RM of Big Quill for many years and also served on the Wynyard Community Clinic board.

 

Leonard is survived by his wife, Joanne, daughters Debbie (Scott) Hilderman, Michelle Bartoshewski and son Curtis (Krystle) Wood. 

 

His grandchildren Justin Bartoshewski (Briana), Julie Bartoshewski (Tayven), and Emerson Wood.

 

He is also survived by his sister Lorraine (Ken) Qualman and their daughter Kelsey. 

 

He is predeceased by his parents Kato and Mary, and his son Sheldon, also predeceased by father in law Bert Emary and mother in law Beryl Emary.

 

Memorial donations may be made to PleasantView Cemetary.
