In Loving Memory of Jean Ottmann
Jean was the oldest daughter of Hjalmar Halvorson and Lucy (Wrubleski). She was born in the Wadena Hospital on February 12, 1930. Jean had two siblings, Donald and Marian.
In 1948, Jean married Victor Ottmann, her lifelong partner for 67 years. Jean's career was her family. She worked tirelessly, growing huge gardens, milking cows, raising pigs, chickens and turkeys. Jean was able to maintain a self-sustaining life for her family. In the later years when all the boys were gone, she went to the fields and helped Vic get the crops off. Jean had an amazing ability to seamlessly prepare a beautiful meal in a moment's notice...for 4, 10, or 20 family and friends, whoever happened to stop in.
When time finally allowed, Jean and Vic enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, cross country skiing and bowling. She was always involved in the church and a dedicated member of the CWL. She was a volunteer at Pleasant View and for palliative care. If any family, neighbor, or member of the community needed a helping hand, she would always volunteer to help.
Jean devoted her life to God, Vic, and their 10 children. She loved everything family. Although always humble, she was so proud of all her children and their accomplishments. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Vic, her parents Hjalmar and Lucy Halvorson, son Kenneth, and grandson Mark.
Jean is survived by: her children Anne (Rob), Allan, Gerald (Cindy), Rae (Debbie), Greg (Carol), Tim, Noreen (Travis), Pat (Jacqueline), Lynda (Ray); 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; siblings- brother Donald (Peggy) Halvorson, sister Marian Hilbig, in-laws- Don (Margaret) Ottmann, Paulette (Cal) Haggard; and special caregiver and friend Marivic Acaac-Cabantac.
