Obituary

In Loving Memory Of Clint Finch

Clint Ewald Finch entered this world on December 7, 1973. He spent his childhood growing up on the family farm. As the eldest of Brian and Brenda Finch, he took the reins while his dad was away at work. He was in charge of completing many of the farm chores with the help of his siblings – Brandy, Neil and Earl. He did everything from pitching square bales, rock picking to milking goats. As a child, he frequented many fairs watching, playing ball, and had many adventures with his cousins one mile down the road. He attended school  in Kelvington where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. His son, Zachary, was born in August 1992. Clint graduated in 1993. He moved to Alberta in search of work and found employment at a ski resort where he met Bronwyn. They later married and moved to Australia after backpacking through Europe. They had three children – Kai, Jesse, and Justice. They resided, worked, and supported Bronwyn’s parents at Manbulloo Homestead in Northern Australia. He acquired an apprenticeship, and became a Power Linesman during his time there and worked for PowerWater for several years. Clint was very proud and passionate about his work there. He would often retell stories about his adventures and could be found observing and inspecting powerlines many years later. Clint loved to play pool with the Katherine’s Eight Ball Association and was a member of the Manbullo Masters. He spent many hours growing and planting a variety of plants in Australia due to the length of the growing season.

In 2003, he travelled back to Canada for his 10 year class reunion. He was involved in a tragic accident that took the life of his best friend Ken. Because of his injuries, Clint was unable to continue working at PowerWater. When he was healthy enough, he returned to Australia to assess his future plans which resulted in him returning to Canada to pursue his dream of building his own kingdom. There he reconnected with his lifelong friend Jennifer and they began to build a life together. They moved to LaRonge in 2005. They had chosen their very first puppy from the Finch Family farm – their beloved dog Maya. Clint took great pride in training her and she did everything with them. She was a remarkable dog. He worked at TransWest Air for many years as an aviation parts person - his particularness came as a great asset to the company. Clint also enjoyed many camping, fishing, and hiking adventures. Exploring the North meant alot to Clint. He loved it so much in fact that he spent 37 nights in a tent one summer. He developed a lot friendships, and even saved a family from a fire. But it wasn’t until later that he met his neighbour and found a brother and true friend in Jay.

In 2012, Jen and Clint found their kingdom in the Kinloch area but didn’t move back until after their daughter was born. On March 30, 2013, they were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter Lily. After Jen returned to work, Clint assumed the role of stay at home dad. All of his knowledge of the land came into play as he dedicated years to creating an orchard, landscaping, planting trees, and perfecting the garden. He raised goats, pigs and chickens. The family travelled to many countries to enjoy hot holidays - his favorite being Jamaica. In 2018, he became a grandfather to  Myrah and again in 2021 to Octavia. In 2020, he added teacher to his role as they began homeschooling their daughter Lily. Lily has fond memories of their walks to Joy, Clint teaching and encouraging her to try new sports, and him being a tough and strict math teacher (Lily even wrote a song about it). Clint enjoyed constructing snow fortresses and shaping ice creations with Lily - everything from ice rinks and Inukshuks, to snow tunnels and a castle-like luge. He spent his spare time helping his friends – building houses, doing carpentry and square baling.

Clint was diagnosed with cancer in July 2023. With hope and optimism, he fought bravely and took what was thrown at him like a true champ. He relied on natural remedies for his pain and the support of Jennifer by his side. Clint cherished the time he had with family and friends. He passed peacefully at his home on March 13 with Jennifer, Lily, and a few good friends at his side.
