Obituary
Graveside Service Monday, November 9, 2015 10:30 a.m. Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery Wadena, Saskatchewan. Donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Wadena Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. Joseph (Joe) Kuczerpa was born March 18, 1926 to Wasyl and Katherine Kuczerpa in the hamlet of Kuroki. Joe's parents had immigrated from Poland in 1925. The family farmed in the Kuroki district until 1935, when they bought a quarter of land five miles north of Wadena. Joe took his education at the Sutherland School three and one-half miles east of the family's home. After he completed his education he farmed alongside his father and stayed on the family farm. Joe farmed with his parents until he built a home for them in Wadena, in 1961. Joe continued to live with his parents and farm after his father retired. Joe farmed until 2011 when his health forced him to retire, but he continued to enjoy trips to the farm to watch the crops grow and then to see the harvest. Joe was a self-taught carpenter. He built several homes in the area. He was also an able machinist and loved a challenge. He had great satisfaction in solving the problems others brought to him and spent many hours working in his basement on the lathes he had there. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe was predeceased by his mother, Katherine, in 1967; by his father Wasyl in 1969; his brother Mark in 1979 and brother Russel in 2013, as well as his sister-in-law, Alice in 2015. He leaves to mourn his passing: his brother, Andy of Port Robinson, Ontario; his sister, Ann Kuczerpa of Victoria, British Columbia; his sister-in-law, Beryl Kuczerpa of British Columbia; his nieces, Kathryn Zorn of Cranbrook, British Columbia and Janet Ruzycki of Burnaby, British Columbia; as well as a host of friends in the Wadena area.
