In Loving Memory of Robert Holmes

Robert (Bob) was born on July 23, 1942 to Clara and George Holmes of Sheho, SK at the Foam Lake Hospital, Foam Lake, SK. He passed away after a short illness in Invermay Palliative Care Center, Invermay, SK on June 15, 2024.

Robert grew up in Sheho, SK. He enjoyed reading Louis Lamour books, skating, hockey, and curling. As a student in school, education came natural for him, he always earned the highest awards. He attended Sheho Elementary School and graduated grade 12 in June 1961 at the Foam Lake Composite High School. After completeing his schooling, he entered the work force, working in construction, building roads on many highways across the provinces. Although he enjoyed his work, his heart called him back home to Sheho to work for various different farmers.

On July 19, 1966, he married Catherine Stinka. Together, they were blessed with three children: Tracey, Clinton, and Shawn. They made their own homestead and land purchase on September 20, 1970 known as the “Skilniks”. This is where cattle and grain farming on his own began. Further farming opportunities came and they moved to the homestead of Andersons in the RM of Invermay, SK where Robert continued to raise cattle, work the land, and enjoy his passion for farming right up until his passing. Robert loved farming alongside his son Clinton.

After a lengthy illness, Catherine passed away on December 7, 1998. Robert married Margaret Panchyk on October 9, 1999.

Robert will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of his Pepsi and a bit of chew (Watkins), from time to time. Bob surely will be missed travelling the south grid road of Invermay to the farm with his Collie dog, cowboy hat, big smile, and always the friendly wave in his ‘ole blue truck.

Those left to celebrate his life and memory include: his wife Margaret, his daughter Tracey (Allan), granddaughter Kristina (Morgan), great grandchildren Harleyann, Aiden, and granddaughter Kayla, his son Clinton (Sherrie) and family, his son Shawn (Angele, mother to Jayden and Logan) and great grandchildren Alice and Lincoln, his extended family Lorilie (Tyrone) Barteski, granddaughter  Lesley (Derek), and great granddaughter Madelyn and grandson Mark Barteski, Charlene (Darrell) Prouse, granddaughter Brittney (Curtis) and great grandson Clay Ross, grandson Buddy Prouse (Mikela).  As well as numerous extended family, cousins, and friends.

As per Robert’s

final wishes,
