In Memory Of Virgil Reynolds
Virgil Frederick Reynolds was born on August 28, 1933 to Ernest & Irene Reynolds. He was the seventh of nine children. He died peacefully at the Foam Lake Jubilee Nursing Home on Thursday, July 18, 2024 with his family by his side.
Virgil received his education to Grade 10 in the Leslie area.
On August 19, 1953 he married Donna Rose Olafson and they moved to Foam Lake where he worked for the Foam Lake Co-op until 1959 when he began working for Federal Grain Ltd. In 1959 Virgil was appointed manager of the Federal Elevator at Leslie, and continued to work with Sask Wheat Pool in Foam Lake until his retirement in 1994.
Virgil and Donna were blessed with seven children. He was active in the curling club in Leslie, on Village Council and numerous community boards. Donna died suddenly on September 29, 1972 at the age of forty years old.
On June 29, 1974, Virgil married Jean Leader (nee Gudmundson) a widow with four children. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2024 with all eleven children present.
Virgil was an avid golfer, played and coached ball, enjoyed curling and all the social aspects of these activities.
Following Virgil’s retirement they travelled and spent many years at the Castle Rock Shores in Arizona. This is where he continued to golf and was a divot repair technician at Emerald Canyon.
In 2015, Virgil and Jean moved from Leslie to the Tiger Lily Lodge in Foam Lake, and in March 2024 they moved together to the Jubilee Nursing Home.
He is predeceased by: his father in 1960; mother in 1977; his wife Donna; his brothers: Frank, Harry; sisters: Florence, Bernice, Doris; brothers in law: Les Denbow, Jack Rose, Vic Taschuk, Stewart Hunter, Duane Narfason; and nephew Rodney Hunter.
Left to celebrate his life is: his wife Jean, his children: Becky (Ray), Bob (Jennie), Bonnie (John), Bryan (Brenda), Bev(Adam), Brenda (Chris), Dan (Lesley); stepchildren: Chris (Ella), Jason (Sharon), Janet (John), and Audrey (Calvert); his 26 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; his sisters: Phyllis, Lillian (Lloyd) and Elaine; sister in law Ella; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Virgil was a very loving and devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, He was very proud of their accomplishments. He touched the hearts of all who knew him, he will be sadly missed.
