In Loving Memory of Marie Angelski
Hazel “Marie” Angelski was born on November 21, 1942 to Clare and Vera Robertson. Marie was the 7th child of 11 born into the Robertson family. Her parents came from Nova Scotia and homesteaded in 1937 on a farm in the Birch Hills area. Marie was always proud of how meticulous her brother Pat was, whom to this day, continues to live and maintain a beautiful park-like yard where she grew up. He also maintains the original Robertson house, which the family cherishes and appreciates, as their memories of childhood were full of love and laughter. The Robertson home was filled with children, family, friends, faith, dance, music, and the Protestant faith. From the time Marie was very young she always loved spending time with her siblings. She attended New England School, a country school, 3 miles from their home to which they walked to and from, all year long. Marie joined the work force when she was 17, when she moved to Victoria, B.C., where she was a nanny. When she returned to Saskatchewan, she worked as a Nurses Aide, with her sister Nancy, at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert. When her brother’s construction, “Robertson Construction” business took off, while they were building Black Strap Mountain, she went to help them out as camp cook. Marie moved to Wynyard in 1969 to work at the Wynyard Hotel, which was owned and operated by her sister Sheila and husband Walter. Soon after moving to Wynyard, she met Louis Angelski. Marie and Louis were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wynyard, SK on October 27, 1973. As a member of the Catholic Faith she volunteered for the Catholic Women’s League. She was a founding member of the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary, giving of her time and talents. Marie embraced the Polish heritage, of which she married into. She quickly learned to make tiny, perfectly rolled cabbage rolls. After getting married, she worked at the 5 cent to a $1 Store while Louis worked for the RM in the summer months and in British Columbia in the winter. Marie and Louis moved to the Angelski farm when Louis’ dad suddenly passed.Marie always had a very large bountiful vegetable garden, as well as a pristine yard and gorgeous flowers. She was a meticulous housekeeper and worked tirelessly to maintain the standards she put on herself. Marie embraced motherhood in true Marie style - as an expert. In 1977, Amanda Jane was born and in 1981, Sara Lee completed their family. After a few winters with the girls on the farm, while Louis was away, they decided to move to town, where they still reside. Marie was family focused and her greatest pleasures were her roles of wife and mother, of which she loved with her whole heart and to which nothing else mattered. Marie had a flair for fashion and the latest trending design. Her heart grew when she became a grandmother to Dawson, Carter, Aria and Zane. She regularly baked her famous sugar cookies and cooked spaghetti with meat sauce for her family and when the grandchildren arrived she made their requested favorites with extra love. Marie and Louis cherished every second they spent with their children and their families. Marie could be fiery, and a bit of a spit fire. She was always doing something kind, and welcoming. Marie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to all.
Marie leaves to mourn her passing with hearts filled with loving memories her: husband of 51 years Louis; her daughters: Amanda (Daryl) Koch, and Sara (Todd) Hordos; her grandchildren: Dawson Koch, Carter Koch, Aria Hordos and Zane Hordos; her siblings: Sheila (Walter Sawicki), Bruce (Olga) Robertson, Alice (Eugene) Gondek, Gary (Gen) Robertson, Nancy (Brian) Hadland, and Pat Robertson; sister-in-law Connie Robertson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Connie & Jim Fichtner and Ron & Irene Angelski as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
