She was delivered by Midwife Charlotte cuthill, with her Father Ed attending. The family moved to Edmore in 1934. Laura took all her schooling at the Edmore School. Laura met the love of her life at a field day between Edmore and Ashdown Schools. Steve & Laura were married July 12, 1950. They raised their 5 children on a farm in the Kelvin Grove District. In 1973, a new path in life was chosen. They moved to Foam Lake where they purchased a Gulf Service Station and opened Laura’s Dinette. In the following years, she was a partner in running Shamrock Ambulance Services and La Vista Motel. Some time was spent cooking Meals on Wheels and she also worked at the Sears Mail Order. Mom was a willing volunteer with the community Hall, Perogy Ladies, Bowling Centre, UCW Auxiliary and the Foam Lake Housing Authority. She was always ready to lend a hand with anything her family and friends needed help with. A love of travel took Laura to many destinations with Steve, family and friends. Mom enjoyed curling, bowling, fishing, reading and card games. She was a member of Ashdown Ladies Club and in recent years belonged to a ladies’ coffee group which met weekly. Mom had many passions which showed us her artistic talents. These included painting, ceramics, wood carving, crocheting, needlepoint, paper tole and most recently adult colouring books. Her garden and flowers were her pride and joy. Friends and strangers were all welcomed in her home. Her cooking and baking were appreciated by all who were privileged to grace her table.
