In Loving Memory of Bill Klewchuk

William John (Bill) Klewchuk was born in Wadena, SK on December 1, 1931. He was the eldest child of John and Margaret Klewchuk. Bill received his primary education in Wadena and attended the University of Saskatchewan. Later he chose farming for his life career, and moved back to be on the family  farm.

Bill enjoyed all sports as a youngster, especially curling. He was an accomplished pianist, spending many hours at the piano perfecting his craft. He competed in music festivals, winning many awards. He also played the church organ for morning and evening services, and helped with church duties.  He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Fishing Lake with family and friends.

Bill had a keen interest in science and new technologies. He was a long time subscriber to both Popular Science and Popular Mechanics magazines. He owned a telescope and followed many astrological events as they occurred. Later in life, he accumulated a sizable antique radio collection that he was very proud of.  Whether he was working in his fields or in his yard in town, attending music performances or just heading up town for supplies, Bill was never keen on being idle. As an elderly gentleman, he could regularly be seen mowing his grass or driving his scooter in Wadena.

Bill married June Salikin in 1975. They along with June’s children Roger, Rhonda, Kathy and Faye lived on their farm near Kuroki. Bill retired to Wadena where he remained until his passing.

Bill is pre-deceased by his Father John in 1984, his mother Margaret in 1996 and his wife June in 2024. He is survived by his younger sisters Elizabeth Batiuk of Wadena, and Margaret Childs of Cochrane Alberta; one niece and  four nephews, as well as his good friend Jolyn Loucks.
