In Loving Memory of John Lalach

John "Shorty" Lalach was born on the family farm May 26, 1928 to Dmytro and Paraskavya Lalach.

John is pre-deceased by his parents Dmetro & Paraskavia Lalach; half-siblings: Harry, Pete, Nettie, Bill; full-siblings: Mary, Polly, Metro, infant Michael, and Annie.

John is survived by brother Mike Lalach from Toronto, Margaret & Ted Bencharski from Winnipeg; sister-in-law Anne Lalach of Winnipeg; hundreds of nieces & nephews; great nieces & nephews; great great nieces & перhews.

John was baptized at St.John Bohoslav Krasne Church where he attended and served faithfully as an Altar Bay.

In John’s early years, John attended Halicz School - a one-room school near Wishart.

John worked on the family farm until the spring of 1966, when he moved to Wynyard where he lived with nephew Mike and Sally and their young family. He was fortunate to live with them for nine years until 1975 when he had to move out because Mike and Sally were moving to their current home. This was the year he made the Wynyard Hotel his home - the ultimate Bachelor Pad.

John worked for Fred Pylypiuk Construction and then for Mike Lalach Construction for several years. Since he brought his treasured John Deere tractor from the farm, he secured work with the Town of Wynyard - retiring in 1993. John was able to serve Sacred Heart Church as the basement caretaker for a few years.

After an unfortunate fall John could no longer climb the steps at the Hotel so he made Westview his new home for the last decade.

John was admitted to the Wynyard Hospital on August 20, 2024 and then transferred to Golden Acres on September 4, 2024.

John passed peacefully on October 18, 2024 at the age of 96.
