Obituary
There will be no service as per Mike's wishes. There will be a private family burial in Summer 2017 Mike passed away in the early hours of Oct 17, the way he wanted to go - at home, on his couch, watching TV and in his sleep. He had suffered from COPD since 2001 and especially in the past 2 years was pretty much house-bound. Mike was a natural born athlete excelling in baseball (pitcher), curling(skip), and hockey. He attended the University of Regina where he received his BA and BED degrees. He taught at various schools throughout the province. Although a great teacher and coach, who was well liked and respected by his students, sitting behind a desk was not for him. His forte was wheeling and dealing which he did part time while teaching. Selling fish from the north at farmer’s Markets with his brother Dave and selling paintings and putting on Art shows in the winter featuring local White Bear artists. He and Dave also were Stampede Wrestling promoters and put on multiple matches throughout Southern Saskatchewan. In 1994 he and his wife Barb moved to Wynyard where he became the business manager for Wynyard Technologies. He oversaw their shrimp fishing and fertilizer surfactant business- a job he loved and managed until his final days. Mike had a lot of fun and adventures in his life. He enjoyed camping trips to Northern BC and the Southern USA. He and Barb had many holidays to Mazatland, Peurto Vallarta, Cancun, and New Orleans. He and Barb always spent February on Vancouver Island until he could no longer travel. We are happy to know that he is at comfort with his dad Ivon enjoying a beer, a smoke, and watching sports. Left to remember Mike and laugh at his stories and antics are his wife Barb and her family, his mother Marie-Jeanne, siblings Dave, Dan, Paulette, Stevhan, Ray, Lou, Laura, Vic, Rob and their families. At Mike’s request there will be no funeral service. A private family burial will be held in the summer of 2017 where he will be buried beside his Dad.
