Obituary
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held. George Julius Morin was born on the family farm in the Spalding district on July 1, 1926, the 9th child out of 11 living children, born to Raoul & Adrienne Morin. Dad took his schooling in the Rural School in the Champlain area which was located some 4 1/2 miles from his home. When dad left school at an early age he worked many jobs helping local farmers, and in the winters went away to work in the Western provinces as well as down in Ontario. Dad met the love of his life at a dance in Spalding and as they say, ``the rest is history``. George & Loretta(Mortenson) were married on September 21, 1949 in St. Paul`s Lutheran Church in Melfort & settled into married life on the family farm. For anybody that knew Dad he loved to play cards, to dance and was always there with a helping hand. Coming from such a large family many tricks were played on people & nobody liked to do that better than Dad. It was never safe to eat a cream puff if you were close to dad. We have so many precious memories that Dad created for us. From this union 5 children were born: Doris, Debbie, Rick, Barbara & Keith. Dad had many jobs in his lifetime, farmer, R.M. Councillor, Rink caretaker, Bartender, R.M. employee & was the town foreman of Naicam for 17 years. Dad was a Lion's member for 35 years, and volunteered on the local Fire Brigade for 24 years and drove Ambulance for 13 years. Being very community minded he also served on many Local Boards, Minor Sports, Church Board, Rink Board & Graveyard Committee. Mom & Dad loved to travel & have gone on many trips, some family trips to B.C. & the States. Other holidays with friends included 2 Expo trips, bus trips to Florida & the Maritimes, a trip to Hawaii and several winters down in Arizona. ln 1998 they sold their house in Naicam & moved to Victoria House on Main St. in Saskatoon. In March 2015 they moved to Luther Towers and because of Dad's health he became a resident of the Stonebridge Senior Living in August, 2019. Dad was predeceased by his wife Loretta, of 68 years, in 2018, Granddaughter Tracy Shearwood, Grand son-in-law Joey Reader, his parents and numerous other relatives. George is remembered by his loving family of 5 children & their spouses: Doris & Ernie, Debbie & Graham, Rick & Colleen, Barbara & Jack, Keith & Wendy, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren., 1 sister, 2 sister-in-laws & 1 brother-in -law. Because of Covid 19 a private family gathering is scheduled for Saturday, January 30, 2021. Rest easy Dad, your work on Earth is done.
