Elsie was born on February 16, 1921 to Anthony and Julia (Angielski) Yaskowich, the eldest of 16 children. She attended Springburn School. On November 14, 1943 she married Joseph Bodnarchuk and they farmed northeast of Wynyard. They were blessed with three children, Geney (Bob Dlugan), Joey (Myron Salapak), and Richard (Gayle Tabin). She will be lovingly remembered by her ten grandchildren: Cathy Dlugan (Craig Scott), Shannon Dlugan (Derek Cey), Michael Dlugan (Shannon Pfeiffer); Stacy Salapak (Mark Adie), Suzanne Salapak (Jason Plank), Sharon Salapak (Jerrod Larsen); Ryan Bodnarchuk (Debbie Haynes), Kyle Bodnarchuk (Ashley Miller), Karling and Kaelyn Bodnarchuk; and 21 great grandchildren: Braden, Sarah Scott; Carter, Karlee Cey; Drew, Ally, Tessa Dlugan; Grace Salapak; Christina, Cameron, Zachary, and Gregory Plank; Seth, Abigail, Claire Larsen; Gavin, Danica, Rhett Bodnarchuk; Hana, Allie, Heath Bodnarchuk. Elsie was kept busy on the farm, milking cows, raising and butchering chickens, growing, harvesting and preserving vegetables. She enjoyed picking mushrooms and berries in her spare time. Elsie was a charter member of the UCWL serving several times as President, and Vice president of the organization. She was selected as Mother of the Year last year in 2014. Elsie and Joe enjoyed retirement, playing cards and bingo. After Joe's passing Elsie remained on the farm for one year and then moved to Westview, and then she moved into Golden Acres in 2008. Here she enjoyed taking part in activities and she was infamous for her knitting projects. Elsie is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as siblings: Leo, Ag, Lucy, Syl, Koni and Bernard. She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Joe, and siblings: Ed, Stan, Ted, Mary, Lawrnce, Carl, Henry, Cecilia and Fr. Damian.
