Obituary
Elizabeth (Elsie) Thorun Nupdal was born May 26, 1923 to John and Kristjana Nicklin on the family farm at Mozart. She received her education in the Mozart elementary and high school where she graduated with high honors. Elsie married Dan Nupdal of Mozart on Oct. 29, 1942 in Wynyard. Mom and dad began their married life in Boomtown at the Dafoe airport moving to Mozart in 1945 where they lived until 2008 when age and health issues forced them to move to Wynyard. Being a homemaker and caring for her family was her main career along with many enjoyable years selling Avon in Mozart and surrounding rural areas. Mom was active in the Mozart Ladies Aid Viljinn, Mozart School Board, Mozart/Elfros History Book committee, and instrumental in the planning and placement of the Mozart School Cairn. Elsie taught Sunday School in Mozart, was a member of the Elfros Union, Wynyard United and the Icelandic Choirs. For twelve years she reported the Mozart news for the Wynyard Advance. Elsie enjoyed gardening, dancing, travelling, their cabin at Fishing Lake, playing cards - especially Spades, curling, the Sask. Roughriders, watching Dancing with the Stars and Archie Bunker. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Dan, her parents John and Kristjana Nicklin, her daughter-in-law Dauna Nupdal, her brothers Oli Goodman and Steve Nicklin and their wives as well as her mother and father-in-law and her Nupdal brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her son Roger (Sharon) Nupdal of Wynyard; daughter Judy (Walter) Bergsveinson of LaRonge; son David Nupdal of Regina; daughter Sheri Nupdal of Regina; as well as 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, her brother Marvin (Kay) Nicklin of Saskatoon, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
