Obituary
Allister Beattie passed away peacefully at the Wadena Union Hospital on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the age of 85. Allister was born at Foam Lake, Saskatchewan on December 28, 1926 to Alexander and Agnes Beattie. Allister received his education at Kelvin Grove School. He was a farmer during his working years and enjoyed raising shorthorn cattle. After moving to town he became the caretaker at the Recreation Centre. In his younger years, Allister enjoyed curling and was a member of the Agricultural Society. When the Bowling Alley opened, he became an avid bowler. He also enjoyed going to the Senior Centre to play pool, going for coffee with friends, going for drives in the country, spending time with family, especially his six grandsons and on the odd occasion going fishing with his daughter and son-in-law. Allister had a green thumb and spent many hours in the garden growing both vegetables and flowers. On April 8, 1967 he married Olive. They had two children, Ian was born 1971 and Moira was born 1973. Allister is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Agnes Beattie and his brothers Harry, Ewen, and Allan. He is survived by his wife Olive of 45 years, his son Ian Beattie, his daughter Moira (Dennis) Littlewood and his six grandsons, Cody, Travis, Zachery, Connor, Logan, and Alexander Littlewood A gathering for Allister Beattie to celebrate his life was held on Thursday, November 15 at 2:30 P.M out of the Foam Lake United Church.
