Obituary
Douglas Joseph Lawerance MacLean age 72 passed away on Dec 3, 2019 at the Invermay Health Centre, Invermay, SK, with family at his side. Douglas or better know as Doug was born on January 11, 1947 to Allen and Edna MacLean, in Wadena Saskatchewan. Doug was the 2nd youngest of 5 children. He grew up and was raised on the family farm South of Invermay where the Whitesand River ran past. Being by the Whitesand River gave him alot of enjoyment. He spent much of his spare time fishing and just relaxing there. His schooling included up to Grade 8 at Newburn School, not far from where he grew up. Doug loved the farm life, and being out close to the river. He also loved to ride, break and train horses. He, for many years, had participated in riding bareback and enjoying rodeos. Doug was also a heavy-duty equipment operator for a number of years working road construction in Saskatchewan. Doug married, the mother of his children, Kathy Parsons on July 28, 1972 in Invermay, Saskatchewan. To this union two children were born, Tracey and Joseph (Joey). After Doug’s divorce in 1984, he remained in Invermay for a few years before went to Lac La Biche, Alberta where he went back to school and received his GED. He then enrolled into a community college there where he received his Small Engine Repair Certificate. He worked very hard to complete this education and was very proud of himself to have been able to obtain these goals. Doug returned to Invermay, SK, where he gained a love for gardening, canning, cooking and even baking. If he wasn’t cooking or gardening, you could often find him mending his socks and patching his pants. In 2014 Doug was admitted into the Invermay Health Centre where he resided till his passing. He struggled a number of years there with health issues but in September 2019 was diagnosed with Cancer which would eventually take more then he could give. Doug is predeceased by his father Allen, mother Edna, brother Earl, brother-in-law Ken, and sister-in-law Loreen.
